A nonlinear flag is a finite sequence of nested closed submanifolds. We study the geometry of Fréchet manifolds of nonlinear flags, in this way generalizing the nonlinear Grassmannians. As an application, we describe a class of coadjoint orbits of the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms that consist of nested symplectic submanifolds, i.e., symplectic nonlinear flags.

Introduction: Non-cognitive traits should be considered when selecting candidates to study medicine. However, evaluating these traits remains difficult. We explored whether measuring undesirable non-cognitive behaviour ('Red Flags') added value to a medical school admissions system.

Neurodevelopmental disorders are on the rise worldwide, with diagnoses that detect derailment from typical milestones by 3 to 4.5 years of age. By then, the circuitry in the brain has already reached some level of maturation that inevitably takes neurodevelopment through a different course.

One of the fundamental mechanisms in embryogenesis is the process by which cells differentiate and create tissues and structures important for functioning as a multicellular organism. Morphogenesis involves diffusive process of chemical signalling involving morphogens that pre-pattern the tissue. These morphogens influence cell fate through a highly nonlinear process of transcriptional signalling.

Waste biomass of cells from the fermentation industry is an environmentally friendly biosorption material. The present study aimed to explore the biosorption behaviour of waste cells for Cu(II), Ni(II) and Cr(VI) in aqueous solution conditions. The results showed that the adsorption kinetics of three kinds of metals were well-fitted with lineared Elovich, pseudo-second-order kinetics models, non-linear kinetics and adsorption isotherms.
