Land subsidence is a serious geological event, and can trigger severe environmental and ecological issues. In this study, the influences of coal-mining subsidence on distribution of farmland microbiomes and their functional genes were investigated by 16 S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and metagenome sequencing. The results showed the existence of a core microbiome, which determined the community compositions across the subsidence farmland.

Article Synopsis
  • Anti-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase (anti-ARS) antibodies help identify a specific group of patients with inflammatory myopathies known as anti-synthetase syndrome, which also presents unique non-myopathic symptoms.
  • Researchers screened over 300 Japanese patients, mainly with dermatomyositis (DM), for autoantibodies to four lesser-known ARSs, finding reactions in two patients.
  • The study suggests the need for further investigation into the clinical differences associated with various anti-ARS antibodies, given the distinct symptoms observed in the patients tested.
