Partner violence and HIV testing uptake among Ethiopian women.

Guided by the Anderson Behavioral Model, the researchers in this study examined the association between emotional violence and HIV testing uptake among women, using the 2016 Ethiopian Demographic and Health Survey. Only 3,637 women between the ages of 15 and 49 years were included. In the bivariate analysis, emotional violence, reported by 42.6% of respondents, was associated with prior HIV testing. In the multiple logistic regression model, emotional violence was not associated with HIV testing uptake among women ( > 0.05). Our findings suggest that efforts to improve women's socio-economic status and decision-making autonomy may be more relevant to increasing HIV testing uptake.
