This study applied modern econometric models to analyze the factors affecting the number of unsafe events (NUE) in the airport flight area using time series data from 1993 to 2017. Influencing factors considered in this article include gross domestic product (GDP) per capita (GDPPC), household consumption level (HCL), the civil aviation passenger turnover (CAPT), the number of civil aviation transport aircraft (NCATA), the total population of the whole country, and the number of civil aviation employment (NCAE). First, the Johansen cointegration test results demonstrate that HCL, NCATA, and NCAE have long-term effects on unsafe events-namely, a 1% increase in HCL corresponds to an average 0.262% increase in NUE. In addition, a 1% increase in NCATA correlates to an average 2.339% increase, and a 1% increase in NCAE corresponds to an average 2.202% decrease in NUE with fixed variables. The analysis results based on the vector error correction model suggest that CAPT has short-term effects on unsafe events and positively correlates to unsafe events. The results of the impulse response function also indicate that the impact of NUE in the previous period on the change of NUE gradually weakens and finally tends to be stable. Finally, NCATA is found to promote the change of NUE significantly. Similarly, the results of variance decomposition also indicate that NCATA has the greatest contribution to the change of NUE, followed by NUE in the previous period. The findings reveal the effects of key factors on the change of unsafe events in airport flight areas, thus providing a valuable theoretical basis for preventing the occurrence of unsafe incidents.

: Cholera remains a major (and increasing) global public health problem. Goma, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been a major cholera hotspot in Africa since 1994 and is currently experiencing one of the largest outbreaks in the world. This article contributes to the existing scholarship on cholera risk by utilizing a variety of qualitative research methods.

Background: Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify which patients were "unsafe" for outpatient surgery patients and determine the most predictive demographic and clinical factors contributing to postoperative risk following open reduction internal fixation for distal radius fractures.

Methods: Adult patients (aged ≥18 years) who presented with distal radius fracture and underwent open reduction internal fixation were identified using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database for years 2016 to 2021. Patients who were deemed "unsafe" therefore contraindicated for outpatient open reduction internal fixation of distal radius fracture if they required admission (length of stay of one or more days) or experienced any complication or required readmission within 7 days of the index operation.

Background: Experiencing a critical illness may be a stressful life event that is also associated with cognitive dysfunction during and after the intensive care unit (ICU) stay. A deep-tech solution based on non-immersive virtual reality, gamification and motion capture called Rehabilitation Gaming System for Intensive Care Units (RGS-ICU) has been developed that includes both cognitive stimulation and relaxation protocols specifically designed for patients with critical illness. This study aims to evaluate whether the cognitive and relaxation protocols of the RGS-ICU platform are 1) effective in improving neuropsychological outcomes during and after ICU stay and 2) safe for patients with critical illness.

Background: School violence is a significant public health concern. Most perpetrators exhibit psychosocial and behavioral warning signals which are often inadequately addressed. While policy and funding typically reinforce politically popular target hardening and threat assessment strategies, these are not most supported by research or requested by education faculty and administration.
