In recent years, the development of methods for the synthesis of MoC for catalytic application has become especially important. In this work a series of MoC samples was synthesized by thermal decomposition of molybdenum blue xerogels obtained using ascorbic acid. The influence of the molar ratio reducing agent/Mo [R]/[Mo] on morphology, phase composition and characteristics of the porous structure of MoC has been established. The developed synthesis method allows the synthesis to be carried out in an inert atmosphere and does not require a carburization step. The resulting molybdenum carbide has a mesoporous structure with a narrow pore size distribution and a predominant pore size of 4 nm.

Anastomotic leak occurrence is a severe complication after colorectal surgery. Considering the difficulty of treating these leaks and their impact on patient care, there is a strong need for an efficient prevention strategy. We evaluated a combination of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from rat adipose-derived stromal cells with a thermoresponsive gel, Pluronic® F127 (PF-127) to prevent anastomotic leaks.

Pythiosis, caused by Pythium insidiosum, is an infectious and non-transmissible disease affecting horses, dogs, and humans, with no effective drug treatment available. Triazoles are compounds of interest for their potential pharmacological properties against fungi and bacteria. In this study, we synthesized three new triazole compounds (C1, C2, and C3) to assess their in vitro activities against P.

Article Synopsis
  • Understanding the impact of drought on carbon dynamics in moso bamboo is crucial for assessing tree survival and recovery, as carbon concentration in various organs plays a key role in drought resistance.
  • The study involved a controlled experiment with simulated drought and natural rainfall, measuring structural and non-structural carbohydrates in leaves, branches, and roots of bamboo plants of different ages.
  • Results indicated that drought significantly increased soluble sugar in leaves and roots while reducing soil organic carbon and microbial biomass, highlighting that drought affects carbon relationships between plant organs and soil differently based on organ type and plant age.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the 7th most common cancer globally with a 40-50 % survival rate. Although macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is overexpressed in most solid tumors and promotes tumor growth and invasion, the therapeutic potential of MIF inhibition in HNSCC is yet to be explored. In this study, we investigated the efficacy of CPSI-1306, a small-molecule MIF inhibitor, on HNSCC cell growth and cancer associated signaling pathways in vitro, as well as its impact on T cells in the HNSCC tumor microenvironment in vivo.

Molybdenum carbide has been reported as an efficient and stable catalyst for reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction. The conventional understanding of the mechanism suggests domination of the surface phenomena, with only surface or subsurface layers partaking in the catalytic cycle. In this study, we presented a highly active MoC catalyst from carburization process, which showed a mass-specific reaction rate over 260 μm with dynamic carbon flux in the bulk phase of the catalyst.
