Despite high success rates of dental implants, surface exposure may occur as a consequence of biologic width establishment associated with surgery. This prospective split-mouth study evaluated the effect of early implant surface exposure caused by initial bone remodeling on long-term peri-implant bone stability and peri-implant health. Additionally, Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) was assessed by means of the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14). Twenty-six patients received two non-splinted implants supporting an overdenture in the mandible by means of locators. One implant was installed equicrestally (control) and the second one was installed subcrestally, taking at least 3 mm soft tissue thickness into account (test). During initial bone remodeling (up to 6 months postoperatively), equicrestal placement yielded 0.68 mm additional surface exposure compared to subcrestal placement ( < 0.001). Afterwards, bone level and peri-implant health were comparable in both treatment conditions and stable up to 5 years. The implant overdenture improved OHRQoL ( < 0.01) and remained unchanged thereafter ( = 0.51). In conclusion, adapting the vertical position of the implant concerning the soft tissue thickness prevents early implant surface exposure caused by initial bone remodeling, but in a well-maintained population, this has no impact on long-term prognosis. The treatment of edentulousness with an implant mandibular overdenture improves OHRQoL.

The electrical conductivity of human tissues is a major source of uncertainty when modelling the interactions between electromagnetic fields and the human body. The aim of this study is to estimate human tissue conductivities in vivo over the low-frequency range, from 30 Hz to 1 MHz. Noninvasive impedance measurements, medical imaging, and 3D surface scanning were performed on the forearms of ten volunteer test subjects.

Purpose: BMS-986299 is a first-in-class, NOD-, LRR-, and pyrin-domain containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome agonist enhancing adaptive immune and T-cell memory responses.
Materials And Methods: This was a phase-I (NCT03444753) study that assessed the safety and tolerability of intra-tumoral BMS-986299 monotherapy (part 1A) and in combination (part 1B) with nivolumab, and ipilimumab in advanced solid tumors. Reported here are single-center results.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between brain cortical and subcortical structures and major depressive disorder (MDD) using the Mendelian Randomization (MR) method.
Methods: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were used as instrumental variables to analyze subcortical brain volume, cortical thickness, and surface area as exposure factors, with MDD as the outcome. Multiple sensitivity analyses were conducted to validate the robustness of the results.

Climate change-induced rise in sea surface temperatures has led to an increase in the frequency and severity of coral bleaching events, ultimately leading to the deterioration of coral reefs, globally. However, the reef-building corals have an inherent capacity to acclimatize to thermal stress on pre-exposure to high temperatures by altering their endosymbiotic Symbiodiniaceae community composition towards a thermal tolerant composition. This reorganisation may become an important tool in coral's resilience to rapid environmental change.
