Unlabelled: . The prediction fo Hospitalization in triage: a comparison of instruments and methods of evaluation. A systematic revision.

Introduction: Overcrowding in the emergency department causes called-boarding, in addition to the increase of the waiting times, high costs and unsatisfied patients. Boarded patients are those admitted to an inpatient unit in the hospital that continue to wait in the emergency department for a bed to become available. The adoption of tools and methods to help the clinician to predict the admission in the triage phase could significantly improve patients flow.

Aim: To analyze and compare different tools and methods and to predict the hospitalization in the triage phase for adult patients.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted by querying the PubMed and Cochrane databases, limited to the last 10 years articles.

Results: Ten longitudinal observational studies analyzed the variables associated with admission, predictive ability of the clinical judgment of the triage nurse, predictive ability of validated objective scores, and cross compared the various methods of predicting admission. The variable most associated with admission was advanced age; both the clinical judgment of the triage nurse and the various scores showed a good predictive ability; the association of the clinical judgment of the triage nurse with one of the scores would offer more accurate predictions.

Discussion: The ability to predict admission in the triage, through the use of validated scores and the clinical judgment of the triage nurse, could be the first step to reduce the boarding phenomenon and to improve the flow in the emergency department.

This study evaluated the effects of a critical reflection program utilizing the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (LCJR) reflective questions based on the Clinical Judgment Model (CJM) on newly graduated nurses' clinical judgment skills. A total of 153 newly graduated nurses scheduled for on-site training in a ward nursing unit were divided into a control group (receiving only the usual on-site training with preceptorship) and an experimental group (receiving the developed program with the same on-site training with preceptorship as the control group). Data were collected at baseline, 6 weeks, and 3 months after the intervention.

The primary objective is to formulate recommendations for the management of spondyloarthritis, grounded in the development of questions structured according to the PICO model. This model defines four essential elements of a clinical question: P: Patient or Population or Problem, I: Intervention (the proposed action), C: Comparison (between diagnostic tests, treatments, etc.

Objectives: The overall goal of this article is to show that denial is one of the greatest obstacles to good practical judgment and is therefore a major problem in clinical ethics by examining its cognitive structure and the challenges it poses for clinical ethics consultation and intervention. In addition to clinical examples, excerpts of verbatim from citizen forums on triage protocols will be used to illustrate the manifestations of denial in citizens when faced with difficult choices.

Case Presentation: The initial waves of the pandemic and the alarming resurgence of cases with the emergence of highly transmissible variants have created increased pressure on many healthcare systems around the world.

Iodoform, a halogenated organic compound, has been a cornerstone in surgical practice due to its potent antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. This comprehensive review examines the historical evolution, mechanism of action, clinical applications, and safety profile of iodoform across various surgical disciplines. Historically significant formulations like Whitehead's varnish and bismuth iodoform paraffin paste (BIPP) demonstrated remarkable efficacy in wound healing during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
