Seagrasses, as marine angiosperms, play important roles in coastal ecosystems. With increasing anthropogenic impacts, they are facing dramatic declines on a global scale. is well-known as a complex taxonomic challenge mainly due to high morphological plasticity. By using only a morphological approach, the genus could be over-split or similar species could be erroneously lumped, thus masking its true biodiversity. In the present study, we incorporated genetic identification with morphological examination to reveal the identity of plants in southern and northwestern Sri Lankan waters. The nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and chloroplast ribulose-bisphosphate carboxylase gene (rbcL) were used to identify plants collected from the Gulf of Mannar, Puttalam Lagoon, and Matara, Sri Lanka. Based on genetic identification, (Zoll.) Miquel is reported for the first time from Sri Lanka, which might have been misidentified as in previous literature based on morphology alone. We also observed a first hybridization case of cross between and . Two potential cryptic species were found, herein designated sp. 1 (allied to H. minor) and sp. 2 (closely related to ). In order to clarify taxonomic ambiguity caused by morphological plasticity and the low resolution of genetic markers, further comparative phylogenomic approaches might be needed to solve species boundary issues in this genus.

Gastric cancer (GC), one of the most common and heterogeneous malignancies, is the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide and is closely related to dietary habits. Fatty acid is one of the main nutrients of human beings, which is closely related to diabetes, hypertension and other diseases. However, the correlation between fatty acid metabolism and the development and progression of GC remains largely unknown.

Developing a new diagnostic prediction model for osteoarthritis (OA) to assess the likelihood of individuals developing OA is crucial for the timely identification of potential populations of OA. This allows for further diagnosis and intervention, which is significant for improving patient prognosis. Based on the NHANES for the periods of 2011-2012, 2013-2014, and 2015-2016, the study involved 11,366 participants, of whom 1,434 reported a diagnosis of OA.

Background: Certain peripheral proteins are believed to be involved in the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the roles of other new protein biomarkers are still unclear. Current treatments aim to manage symptoms, but they are not effective in stopping the progression of the disease. New drug targets are needed to prevent Alzheimer's disease.

The stripe color of watermelon is a vital commercial trait and is the focus of attention of consumers and researchers. However, the genetic determinants of watermelon stripe color are incompletely understood. Based on the results of preliminary localization studies, we constructed a large-capacity F generation population (710 plants) using light-green striped ZXG1555 and green-striped Cream of Saskatchewan (COS) watermelon strains as parental lines for fine mapping.
