Carbon nanosheets (CNs) were successfully synthesized from nettle stem (NS) which is an inexpensive material with a high carbon content that is abundantly available in nature. CNs were produced using chemical (potassium hydroxide activation and acid exfoliation) and thermal treatments. Sulfuric (HSO), phosphoric (HPO) and nitric (HNO) acid solutions were used for exfoliation. CNs exfoliated by HPO have higher specific surface area (789 m g) compared to CNs exfoliated by HSO (705 m g) and HNO (106 m g). In this work, NSCNs were found to be a potential candidate for electrode material in electrochemical capacitors. The maximum specific capacitance of the NSCNs exfoliated by HPO is found to be 27.3 F g at a current density of 0.05 A g, while the specific capacitance of NSCNs exfoliated by HSO and HNO is 9.34 F g and 1.71 F g, respectively. Energy density (0.06-0.95 Wh kg) and power density (20.9-26.7 W kg) of NSCNs are confirmed to be supercapacitor materials and can be applied in energy storage devices.

Poly(glycolic acid) (PGA) is a rapidly degradable polymer mainly used in medical applications, attributed to its relatively high cost. Reducing its price will boost its utilization in a wider range of application fields, such as gas barriers and shale gas extraction. This article presents a strategy that utilizes recycled PGA as a raw material alongside typical carbon nanomaterials, such as graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), to produce low-cost, fully degradable yarns via electrospinning and twisting techniques.

Theanode enables raised microbial fuel cells (MFCs) performance via in-situ growth electroactive material. However, the role of fabricated microstructures in electroactive bacteria loading and extracellular electron transfer (EET) has been paid less attention. Here, MoS2 nanosheets are custom grown on carbon cloth to construct anode models with diverse surface microstructures.

The NiCoO Nanosheets@Carbon fibers composites have been successfully synthesized by a facile co-electrodeposition process. The mesoporous NiCoO nanosheets aligned vertically on the surface of carbon fibers and crosslinked with each other, producing loosely porous nanostructures. These hybrid composite electrodes exhibit high specific capacitance in a three-electrode cell.

The disordered assembly and low conductivity of carbon nanotubes are the main problems that limit the application of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. In this work, an ordered lamellar assembly structure of multiwalled carbon nanotube/TiCT (MWCNT/TiCT) hybrid films was achieved by vacuum-assisted filtration through the hybridization of TiCT nanosheets and carbon nanotubes, where carbon nanotubes were tightly sticking on the surface of TiCT nanosheets via physical adsorption and hydrogen bonding. Compared with the pure carbon nanotubes films, the hybrid MWCNT/TiCT films achieved a significant improvement in conductivity of 452.

Nitrite is widely used as a food additive, and it is of great significance to realize accurate detection of nitrite for food safety. Electrochemical technique is characterized by simple operation and portability, which enables rapid and accurate detection. The key factors affecting the nitrite detection performance are the electrocatalytic activity and interfacial electron transfer efficiency of the electrode.
