Two new hydroxylated ethacrylic acid derivatives (compounds and ) and 11 new hydroxylated tiglic acid derivatives (compounds -), together with one known compound (compound ), were isolated from the stems and branches of . Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic analyses, while their absolute configurations were determined by X-ray crystallographic methods (compounds and ), Mo(OAc)-induced electronic circular dichroism experiments (compounds and ), and chemical methods (compounds -). This study is the first investigation on the secondary metabolites of this species. The anti-inflammatory activities of all isolated compounds were evaluated in an LPS-induced mouse peritoneal macrophage model. Notably, compounds and both exerted potent inhibitory effects on NO production with IC values of 2.9 and 1.2 μM, respectively.

Melatonin (Mel) is a tryptophan-derived (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine) molecule. In the present study, role of Mel in the regulation of various anaplerotic enzymes is discussed in relation to N metabolism and H-ATPase activity in mung bean under Cd stress. The application of Mel to the Cd-stressed mung bean seedlings was remarkable in improving the activity of hexokinase (35.

Immunologic bile duct destruction is a pathogenic condition associated with vanishing bile duct syndrome (VBDS) after liver transplantation and hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation. As the bile acid receptor sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor 2 (S1PR2) plays a critical role in recruitment of bone marrow-derived monocytes/macrophages to sites of cholestatic liver injury, S1PR2 expression was examined using cultured macrophages and patient tissues. Bile canaliculi destruction precedes intrahepatic ductopenia; therefore, we focused on hepatocyte S1PR2 and the downstream RhoA/Rho kinase 1 (ROCK1) signaling pathway and bile canaliculi alterations using three-dimensional hepatocyte culture models that form obvious bile canaliculus-like networks.

The clinical application of doxorubicin (DOX) is limited due to its cardiotoxicity, which is primarily attributed to its interaction with iron in mitochondria, leading to lipid peroxidation and myocardial ferroptosis. This study aimed to investigate the role of the gut microbiota-derived metabolite, indole-3-lactic acid (ILA), in mitigating DOX-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC). Cardiac function, pathological changes, and myocardial ferroptosis were assessed in vivo.

The main protease (Mpro) of SARS-CoV-2 is an evolutionarily conserved drug discovery target. The present study mainly focused on chemoinformatics computational methods to investigate the efficacy of our newly designed trifluoromethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole amide derivatives as SARS-CoV-2 Mpro inhibitors. Drug-likeness ADMET analysis, molecular docking simulation, density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics simulation methods were included.

A series of new arecoline derivatives containing amino acid fragments were synthesized, and their fungicidal activities were investigated. All synthesized compounds were characterized by H NMR, CNMR, and HRMS. Preliminary bioactivity assays demonstrated that Compounds 3k, 3n, 3p, 3q, 3r, and 3s exhibited significant antifungal activity against Botryosphaeria cactivora, Botryosphaeria dothidea, and Fusarium pseudograminearum at a concentration of 100 μg/mL.
