Testate amoebae are a polyphyletic and highly diverse group of unicellular protists, inhabiting various habitats and successfully used as indicators of property of environmental variables, providing information on hydrology, pH and pollution of ecosystems. However, despite numerous studies, there is still a lack of data regarding their species diversity, geographical distribution and population dynamics in various habitats from previously unexplored or poorly investigated regions such as Mongolia. In this study, we describe the morphology and morphometry of a new genus and four new species: Armatura murmillo gen.

Strengthening potential of recent peat dating.

J Environ Radioact

December 2024

Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, Radzikowskiego 152, 31-342, Cracow, Poland.

This study concerned high-resolution age reconstructions of modern organic deposits collected from peatlands distributed in Central Europe. The main focus was on Pb radioisotope as a fundamental geochronometer along with C and Pu radioisotopes used for dating verification. In addition to simple classical models such as CF/CS or CF, the new approach formulated upon the Plum method was implemented.

Carbon emission from the Lower Ob River floodplain during spring flood.

Sci Total Environ

December 2024

Geosciences and Environment Toulouse, UMR 5563 CNRS, 14 Avenue Edouard Belin, 31400 Toulouse, France. Electronic address:

Carbon emission from Arctic rivers constitutes a positive feedback between the climate warming and C cycle. However, in case of rivers with extensive floodplains, the impacts of temporary water bodies and secondary channels on CO exchange with atmosphere, compared to the main stem and tributaries, remain strongly understudied. In order to quantify the relative role of various water bodies of the Arctic river basin in the C cycle, the hydrochemical variables and greenhouse gases GHG concentrations and fluxes were measured within the floodplain of the largest Arctic River, Ob, in its low reaches located in the permafrost zone.

Impact of severe drought on biogenic volatile organic compounds emissions from Sphagnum mosses in boreal peatlands.

Sci Total Environ

November 2024

Peatland and Soil Ecology Research Group, School of Forest Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, P.O. Box 111, 80101 Joensuu, Finland.

Climate change and the associated increased frequency of extreme weather events are likely to alter the emissions of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) from boreal peatlands. Hydrologically sensitive Sphagnum mosses are keystone species in boreal peatland ecosystems that are known to emit various BVOCs. However, it is not known how their emissions respond to seasonal droughts.

Synergistic risk in the gut and liver: Insights into the toxic mechanisms and molecular interactions of combined exposure to triazophos and fenvalerate in zebrafish.

Sci Total Environ

October 2024

State Key Laboratory for Managing Biotic and Chemical Threats to the Quality and Safety of Agro-products, Institute of Agro-product Safety and Nutrition, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hangzhou 310021, Zhejiang, China. Electronic address:

The simultaneous or sequential application of pesticides such as triazophos (TRI) and fenvalerate (FEN) in agriculture results in their residues co-existing in the environments. However, the impact of co-exposure to TRI and FEN on the gut-liver axis, along with the underlying mechanisms, remains unclear. Our results showed that exposure to FEN (96 h-LC value of 0.
