Alkylation of Ti(CH)Cl1 by MeLi gives the homoleptic Ti(CH)2 for the first time in the absence of any coordinating solvent. The reaction of 2 with silica pretreated at 700 °C (SiO) gives two inequivalent silica-supported Ti-methyl species 3. Complex 3 was characterized by IR, microanalysis (ICP-OES, CHNS, and gas quantification), and advanced solid-state NMR spectroscopy (H, C, DQ, TQ, and HETCOR). The catalytic activity of the pre-catalyst 3 is investigated in low-temperature hydrogenolysis of propane and n-butane with TONs of 419 and 578, respectively.

Background: Prosthetic joint infection is a serious complication that can arise after total joint replacement surgery. When bacteria colonise an orthopaedic implant, they form biofilms that protect them from their environment, making them difficult to remove. Treatment is further complicated by a global rise of antimicrobial resistance.

Titania (TiO) is one of promising photo catalysts for its high ability to resistant photo corrosion and environmental friendliness, but its photocatalytic activity is too low to be used in industry. To find an approach to solve this problem, graphene oxide (GO), tungsten trioxide (WO) and TiO composite with hollow mesoporous structure was prepared by a two-step spray drying method. The composite was used as raw material to constitute a membrane onto ITO glass to form a membrane photo-anode.

A hybrid coating made of poly (methyl methacrylate) with SiO2-TiO2 particles (PMMA/SiO2-TiO2) has been developed for use as a coating on nanosatellites, evaluating its resistance to high vacuum by quantifying its weight loss. The coating was applied on an Al 7075 aluminum substrate used for the aerospace sector. PMMA/SiO2-TiO2 hybrid coatings were prepared using sol-gel reaction in situ assisted with sonochemistry.

The safety of titanium dioxide (TiO), widely used in foods and personal care products, has been of ongoing concern. Significant toxicity of TiO has been reported, suggesting a risk to human health. To evaluate its potential epigenotoxicity, the effect of exposure to a TiO product to which humans could be exposed on DNA methylation, a primary epigenetic mechanism, was investigated using two human cell lines (Caco-2 (colorectal) and HepG2 (liver)) relevant to human exposure.

Bimetallic (Ta/Ti, V, Co, Nb) mesoporous MCM-41 nanoparticles were obtained by direct synthesis and hydrothermal treatment. The obtained mesoporous materials were characterized by XRD, XRF, N adsorption/desorption, SEM, TEM, XPS, Raman, UV-Vis, and PL spectroscopy. A more significant effect was observed on the mesoporous structure, typically for MCM-41, and on optic properties if the second metal (Ti, Co) did not belong to the same Vb group with Ta as V and Nb.
