This updated Heart Valve Collaboratory framework addresses the growing concern for transcatheter valve failure (TVF) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). With the increasing volume of redo-TAV and surgical TAV explantation, there is a critical need for standardized pathways and protocols for evaluating TVF using echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography (CT) angiography. This document clarifies prior definitions of bioprosthetic valve deterioration and bioprosthetic valve failure in a practical, imaging directed context for TAVR.

Background: Sutureless bioprosthetic valves (SBVs) are engineered to enable a less invasive surgical valve replacement procedure in patients at high surgical risk. Valve degeneration is a relatively common occurrence across all types of surgical valves, including SBVs. Valve-in-valve (ViV) procedures are increasingly becoming the preferred treatment for many cases of valve degeneration due to their minimally invasive nature and favourable long-term outcomes.

Background: The choice of valve prosthesis in women planning a pregnancy is still controversial. The durability of biological prostheses and the characteristic thrombogenic of mechanical prostheses are limitations to the pregnancy's successful Objectives: To study the pregnancy success rate after valve prosthesis implantation, and identify the variables related to maternal outcomes.
Methods: Prospective study with 78 pregnant women with bovine pericardial prosthesis (Group BP) and 50 with a mechanical prosthesis (Group MP), who received prior guidance on the risks of pregnancy.

Objectives: Valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation (ViV-TAVI) has gained popularity as a less invasive alternative to a redo surgical aortic valve replacement (redo-SAVR); which one is the preferred technique in these cases, however, remains a topic of debate, as the available data refer to retrospective studies with few patients or limited follow-up. The present metanalysis aimed to compare the short-term and long-term outcomes of the two techniques in the setting of a failed surgical bioprosthesis.
Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase were searched on 10 November 2023 yielding 355 results (PROSPERO ID: CRD42023490612), of which 27 were suitable for meta-analysis.

Background: Bioprosthetic aortic valve (bAV) degeneration represents a major concern following aortic valve replacement (AVR). The association of bisphosphonates, serum calcium and serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) with native AV degeneration have been studied extensively. However, their association with structural valve degeneration (SVD) is yet to be elucidated.
