The present paper investigates the F-type centers in α-AlO through their electronic and vibrational properties from first principle calculations using a periodic supercell approach, a hybrid functional, and all-electron Gaussian basis sets as implemented in the CRYSTAL17 code. Single F-type and dimer F-type centers related to oxygen vacancies in various charge states were considered. The defect-induced vibrational modes were identified and found to appear mainly in the low (up to 300 cm) and high (above 700 cm) frequency regions, depending on the defect charge. The perturbation introduced by the defects to the thermal nuclear motion in the crystal lattice is discussed in terms of atomic anisotropic displacement parameters. The calculated Raman spectra are discussed for the first time for such defects in α-AlO, suggesting important information for future experimental and theoretical studies and revealing deeper insight into their behavior.

To solve the problems of insufficient stiffness and poor integrity of traditional F-type socket joints, steel screw connections are set along the longitudinal direction between rectangular pipe jacking joints. However, the mechanical properties of F-type socket joints with steel screw connections have not been fully investigated, and the influence of the coefficient of subgrade reaction has not been considered. In this work, through model tests and numerical simulations of F-type socket joints with steel screws under different coefficients of subgrade reaction, the influence of steel screws on the deformation and damage characteristics of F-type socket joints is discussed, and the bending mechanical response of F-type socket joints under different coefficients of subgrade reaction is analyzed.

Despite their widespread presence in acidic environments, the stability and adaptative mechanisms of complete ammonia oxidization (comammox) bacteria remain poorly understood. In this three-year study, comammox Nitrospira consistently dominated both abundance and activity in an acidic nitrifying reactor (pH = 6.3-6.

Creating van der Waals (vdW) homojunction devices requires materials with narrow bandgaps and high carrier mobilities for bipolar transport, which are crucial for constructing fundamental building blocks like diodes and transistors in a 2D architecture. Following the recent discovery of elemental 2D tellurium, here, we systematically investigate the electrical transport and flicker noise of hydrothermally grown multilayer tellurium field effect transistors. While the devices exhibit a dominant p-type behavior with high hole mobilities up to ∼242 cm V s at room temperature and almost linear current-voltage characteristics down to 77 K, ambipolar behavior was observed in some cases.

Scavenger receptors (SRs), a category of pattern recognition receptors primarily expressed on the surface of myeloid cells, play pivotal roles in oxidation response and lipid metabolism. However, current research on Scavenger Receptor class F type II (SRECⅡ) revolves around Van Den Ende-Gupta Syndrome (VDEG), the potential function of SRECII, particularly in regulating lipid metabolism and oxidative stress processes, remains elusive. Herein, we elucidate that SRECII from Epinephelus coioides (EcSRECII) may modulate fatty acid oxidation and oxidative stress levels via interactions with lipoprotein particles.

Doubly uniparental inheritance (DUI) is an atypical animal mtDNA inheritance system, reported so far only in bivalve species, in which two mitochondrial lineages exist: one transmitted through the egg (F-type) and the other through the sperm (M-type). Although numerous species exhibit this unusual organelle inheritance, it is primarily documented in marine and freshwater mussels. The distribution, function and molecular evolutionary implications of DUI in the family Veneridae, however, remain unclear.
