A single-chip Gaussian monocycle pulse (GMP) transceiver was developed for radar-based microwave imaging by the use of 65-nm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. A transmitter (TX) generates GMP signals, whose pulse widths and -3 dB bandwidths are 192 ps and 5.9 GHz, respectively. A 102.4 GS/s equivalent time sampling receiver (RX) performs the minimum jitter, input referred noise, signal-to-nose-ratio (SNR), signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) effective number of bits (ENOB) of 0.58 ps, 0.24 mVrms, 28.4 dB, 26.6 dB and 4.1 bits, respectively. The SNR for the bandwidth of 3.6 GHz is 36.3 dB. The power dissipations of transmitter and receiver circuits are 19.79 mW and 48.87 mW, respectively. The GMP transceiver module can differentiate two phantom targets with the size of 1 cm and the spacing of 1 cm by confocal imaging.

Context: This work reports structure-property correlations of 27 zwitterions Reichardt's types of zwitterions. Focuses are twofold, to see the (1) impacts of metamerism with Reichardt's vs Brooker's types of zwitterions and (2) impacts of monocyclic aromatic rings as bridges. All the molecules considered here have pyridinium (common acceptor: A) and p-phenylene-dicyanomethanide (common donor: D).

Context: 2,4,6,8,10, 12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10, 12-hexazepane (CL-20) is a new energetic material with high performance and low sensitivity. In-depth study of the thermal decomposition mechanism of CL-20 is a necessary condition to improve its performance, ensure its safety, and optimize its application. On the basis of a large number of empirical force fields used in molecular dynamics simulation in the past, the machine learning augmented first-principles molecular dynamics method was used for the first time to simulate the thermal decomposition reaction of CL-20 at 2200 K, 2500 K, 2800 K, and 3000 K isothermal temperature.

The manuscript presents an algorithm for the optimal estimation of the amplitude and propagation delay time of an ultra-wideband radio signal, in systems for the passive location of fixed targets based on the hybrid RSS/TDoA method in two-dimensional space with two base stations. The optimal estimate is based on the Bayesian strategy of maximum a posteriori probability density, taking into account a priori data on the statistical properties of the Line of Sight radio channel during Gaussian monocycle propagation. The Bayesian Cramer-Rao lower bound (BCRLB) of the delay time and the amplitude estimates for a time-discrete signal are calculated, and the resulting parameter estimate is compared with BCRLB.

In this paper, we reported an integrated method to generate ultra-wideband (UWB) pulses of different orders based on a reconfigurable silicon micro-ring resonator-coupled Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Under proper operating conditions, the device can produce Fano resonances with a peak-to-valley extinction ratio of above 20 dB. UWB monocycle and doublet signals with picosecond pulse widths are produced when the microring resonator is modulated by square and Gaussian electrical pulses, respectively.
