To investigate the effect of a new platform of nanocarriers, called nanodroplets (NDs), to enhance the activity of vancomycin (Vm), against bacterial colonies isolated from chronic ulcers of the lower limbs. Oxygen-loaded nanodroplets (OLNDs) or oxygen-free nanodroplets (OFNDs) were loaded with Vm (Vm-OLNDs and Vm-OFNDs). MIC and minimal bactericidal concentrations were evaluated for Vm, OLNDs and OFNDs loaded with Vm, OLNDs and OFNDs. Nanodroplets, either with or without oxygen, appeared as a suitable platform of antibiotic nanocarriers to enhance the antibacterial effects of Vm against , with a decrease in both MIC and minimal bactericidal concentration against Vm-resistant strains.

Chronic cough is a distressing and prevalent symptom in interstitial lung disease (ILD), significantly impairing quality of life (QoL) and contributing to disease progression, particularly in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It is associated with physical discomfort, psychological distress, and social isolation and is often refractory to conventional therapies. The pathophysiology of cough in ILD is complex and multifactorial, involving neural hypersensitivity, structural lung changes, inflammatory processes, and comorbid conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Chronic stress exposure has been widely recognized as a significant contributor to numerous central nervous system (CNS) disorders, leading to debilitating behavioral changes such as anxiety, depression, and cognitive impairments. The prolonged activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis during chronic stress disrupts the neuroendocrine balance and has detrimental effects on neuronal function and survival. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, and devastating lung disorder. In response to transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), normal lung cells proliferate and differentiate into myofibroblasts, which are instrumental in promoting disease progression. Small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting heat shock protein 47 (HSP47) has been demonstrated to alleviate IPF by blocking collagen synthesis and secretion.

Chronic wounds and injuries remain a substantial healthcare challenge, with significant burdens on patient quality of life and healthcare resources. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) present an innovative approach to enhance tissue repair and regeneration in the context of wound healing. The intrinsic presence of MSCs in skin tissue, combined with their roles in wound repair, ease of isolation, broad secretory profile, and low immunogenicity, makes them especially promising for treating chronic wounds.

Sepsis is a risk factor associated with increasing neonatal morbidity and mortality, acute lung injury, and chronic lung disease. While stem cell therapy has shown promise in alleviating acute lung injury, its effects are primarily exerted through paracrine mechanisms rather than local engraftment. Accumulating evidence suggests that these paracrine effects are mediated by mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), which play a critical role in immune system modulation and tissue regeneration.
