We apply a combination of the Viscous Froth model and a surfactant transfer model [Zaccagnino et al., Phys. Rev. E, 2018, 98, 022801] to predict the rheological response of a two-dimensional dry aqueous foam. The model includes both the effect of friction between the foam and the boundaries of the container and also the dissipative effects on the film interfaces caused by surfactant motion. These dynamics are characterized by two free parameters: the Gibbs elasticity, relating surfactant concentration to interfacial tension, and the mobility of the surfactant molecules on the interfaces. We employ numerical simulations to evaluate the static shear modulus, yield stress and the storage and loss moduli of a foam and investigate the effect of our free parameters on these rheological properties.

In recent years, rising environmental concerns and the detrimental impact of emissions from the growing number of locomotives have prompted scientists to investigate alternative fuels derived from renewable lipids, such as microemulsion-based hybrid biofuels (MHBFs). Petro crops and lignocellulosic biomass are the common agricultural and forest feedstocks for biofuel production. Biofuel can be characterized in terms of its volatility range, physicochemical properties, composition, combustion, and emission characteristics.

Novel amphiphilic π-conjugated polymer nanoparticles tailored to efficiently absorb in the near-infrared II (NIR-II) region of the electromagnetic spectrum (>1000 nm) are presented. To achieve this, it is statistically introduced triethylene glycol substituted bithiophene moieties in various contents into a polymer backbone consisting of alternating thiophene and [1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline. Through systematic modifications of monomer ratios, four amphiphilic conjugated polymers are produced.

The complexation behavior and binding affinity of Triton X-100 (TX-100) and Triton X-114 (TX-114) with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were extensively studied in an aqueous medium using a comprehensive suite of experimental techniques. These techniques allowed for the evaluation of key physicochemical parameters, including critical micelle concentration (cmc), aggregation number (), Stern-Volmer constant, and particle size distribution. These metrics were instrumental in understanding the underlying mechanism of the host-guest interaction between β-CD and Triton-X.

Department of Dental Materials Science, Academic Center for Dentistry (ACTA), University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the cytotoxicity (irritant potency) of toothpaste ingredients, of which some had known to have sensitizing properties.

Materials: From the wide variety of toothpaste ingredients, Xylitol, Propylene glycol (PEG), Sodium metaphosphate (SMP), Lemon, Peppermint, Fluoride, Cinnamon, and Triclosan and Sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) have been selected for evaluation of their cytotoxic properties.

Methods: Reconstructed human gingiva (RHG) were topically exposed to toothpaste ingredients at different concentrations.

Optimizing lipopeptide bioactivity: The impact of non-ionic surfactant dressing.

J Pharm Anal

December 2024

MTA-HUN-REN TTK Lendület "Momentum" Peptide-Based Vaccines Research Group, Institute of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Budapest, H-1117, Hungary.

The aim of the research is to increase the applicability of lipopeptides as drugs. To this end, non-ionic triblock copolymers, namely poloxamers, were applied. The physico-chemical properties of poloxamers vary depending on the length of the blocks.
