Textile industries are currently not showing much interest in Ramie fibers due to the difficulties associated with their post-harvest downstream processing. The degumming chemicals are often detrimental to the environment upon discharged. Chemical degumming alone results in fibril-released coarse and brittle fibers. This problem has been addressed by combining partial chemical treatment with microbial degumming of the fibers for 72 h at 37 °C using a novel microbial formulation with MCC2138 and ABDR01. The extracellular microbial enzyme-based degumming without the release of fibrils produced a durable, soft, and lustrous fiber with higher tensile strength while utilizing fewer chemicals, thereby leading to lower discharge toxicity. The improved texture and strength compared to complete chemical treatment are attributed to even degumming of the fiber ensuring proper spinnability. Through this approach, Ramie is expected to gain visibility in the global textile market, thereby leading to Ramie cultivators' economic benefits.

Mechanoluminescent units, when integrated into polymer matrices, undergo structural transformations in response to mechanical force, resulting in changes in fluorescence. This phenomenon holds considerable promise for the development of stress-sensing materials. Despite the high demand for robust, tunable mechanoluminescent mechanophores for force assessment and smart force-responsive materials, strategies for their design and synthesis remain underdeveloped.

Lithium is used in the long-term treatment of bipolar disorder, exhibiting a beneficial effect on the neuronal cells. The concentration of lithium in the blood serum can vary and can easily approach a level that is related to cardiotoxic adverse effects. This is due to its narrow therapeutic index.

This paper investigates the impact of treatment with chemical solutions of varying pH values on the micro-macroscopic damage in coal samples under load, employing a combination of Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) experiments and uniaxial compression tests. The experimental results show that soaking coal samples in NaOH, HCl, and distilled water for 7 days leads to reductions in uniaxial compressive strength by 39.19%, 47.

Calcium hydroxide nanoparticles (Ca(OH)NPs) possess potent antimicrobial activities and unique physical and chemical properties, making them valuable across various fields. However, limited information exists regarding their effects on genomic DNA integrity and their potential to induce apoptosis in normal and cancerous human cell lines. This study thus aimed to evaluate the impact of Ca(OH)NPs on cell viability, genomic DNA integrity, and oxidative stress induction in human normal skin fibroblasts (HSF) and cancerous hepatic (HepG2) cells.
