Objective: Disordered Eating Behaviors (DEB) are associated with dysfunctional changes in eating behavior, not meeting diagnostic criteria for eating disorders. DEB affects a significant percentage of individuals, yet it remains under-researched. The current study investigates the developmental trajectory and psychopathological correlates of DEB in children and adolescents in Brazil.

Decades of research on personality identified dissociable psychological temperaments. Cloninger's temperament and character theory used a psychobiological approach to differentiate three major dimensions of personality: harm avoidance, novelty seeking, and reward dependence. Previous studies, heretofore, did not examine the correspondence between Cloninger's psychological temperaments and statistically independent data-driven components and how that could enhance the clinical utility of personality temperaments.

Mixed affective states in bipolar disorder (BD) is a common psychiatric condition that occurs when symptoms of the two opposite poles coexist during an episode of mania or depression. A four-dimensional model by Goldbeter (Progr Biophys Mol Biol 105:119-127, 2011; Pharmacopsychiatry 46:S44-S52, 2013) rests upon the notion that manic and depressive symptoms are produced by two competing and auto-inhibited neural networks. Some of the rich dynamics that this model can produce, include complex rhythms formed by both small-amplitude (subthreshold) and large-amplitude (suprathreshold) oscillations and could correspond to mixed bipolar states.

To investigate the associations between demographic factors and brain hierarchical changes following successful selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) treatment, 57 major depressive disorder (MDD) patients who achieved remission after a 12-week SSRI treatment and 39 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited. MDD patients underwent diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) scans before treatment and after the 12-week SSRI treatment. Depression severity was evaluated with the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD) using the total score and the subscales: retardation, cognitive impairment, anxiety, and sleep disturbance.
