An enantioselective phospha-Michael-type addition reaction of diarylphosphine oxides with alkenyl benzimidazoles was demonstrated using a chiral phosphoric acid as the chiral Brønsted acid catalyst. Addition products having phosphorus and benzimidazole units were formed in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities in most cases. The reduction of the phosphine oxide unit in the addition product afforded the corresponding chiral phosphine, which is a potential benzimidazole-based chiral P,N-ligand, without loss of enantiomeric excess.

Gold(I)-catalyzed intramolecular hydroarylation of dialkynyl(biaryl)phosphine oxides provided versatile benzo-fused phosphepine oxides. O-exo adducts were obtained as the major product, and O-endo adducts were the minor product. O-exo and O-endo indicate the position of an oxygen atom with respect to the central phosphepine framework.

We disclose herein a chiral phosphoric-acid-catalyzed enantioselective addition reaction of alcohols to fluoroalkylated biaryl 1,3-oxoazepines, which furnished a wide range of bridged biaryls bearing a fluoroalkylated quaternary carbon stereocenter on the seven-membered ring in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98% ee). Our method can be used for the modification of several natural products and bioactive molecules. Preliminary studies revealed that the products obtained in this reaction exhibit good in vitro bioactivities against two plant pathogens.

A chiral phosphoric acid-catalyzed efficient, operationally simple, general method for straightforward syntheses of axially chiral arylpyrazole employing -alkyl of 3-aryl-5-aminopyrazoles reacting with azonaphthalenes was achieved. A wide variety of axially chiral heterobiaryl diamines in generally good yields with excellent enantioselectivities were obtained under mild conditions. In addition, a scaled-up experiment and postmodification of the chiral product further highlighted the synthetic utility.

An asymmetric photoredox catalytic Minisci-type reaction between α-bromide amides and imine-containing azaarenes has been successfully developed. This catalyst system employs a chiral phosphoric acid alongside 3DPAFIPN as a photosensitizer. The reaction produces a diverse array of valuable amides, featuring azaarene-substituted tertiary carbon stereocenters at the β-position, in high yields (up to 85%) and good to excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% enantiomeric excess (ee)).

Direct synthesis of enantioenriched scaffolds with multiple adjacent stereocenters remains an important yet challenging task. Herein, we describe a highly diastereo- and enantioselective Cu-catalyzed alkylboration of cyclopropenes, with less reactive alkyl iodides as electrophiles, for the efficient synthesis of -substituted borylated cyclopropanes bearing three consecutive stereocenters. This protocol features mild conditions, a broad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance, affording an array of chiral borylated cyclopropanes in good to high yields with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities.
