We report a comprehensive investigation of the photophysical properties of Hoechst 33258 (HOE) embedded in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films. HOE displays a bright, highly polarized, blue fluorescence emission centered at 430 nm, indicating effective immobilization within the polymer matrix of PVA. Its fluorescence quantum yield is notably high (~0.

Phenolic compounds are an extensive group of natural and anthropogenic organic substances of the aromatic series containing one or more hydroxyl groups. The main sources of phenols entering the environment are waste from metallurgy and coke plants, enterprises of the leather, furniture, and pulp and paper industries, as well as wastewater from the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins, adhesives, plastics, and pesticides. Among this group of compounds, phenol is the most common environmental pollutant.

The ability of the living world to flourish in the face of constant exposure to dangerous chemicals depends on the management ability of a widespread group of enzymes known as heme-thiolate monooxygenases or cytochrome P450 superfamily. About three-quarters of all reactions determining the metabolism of endogenous compounds, of those carried in foods, of taken drugs, or even of synthetic chemicals discarded into the environment depend on their catalytic performance. The chromatographic and (photo)luminometric methods routinely used as predictive and analytical tools in laboratories have significant drawbacks ranging from limited shelf-life of reagents, use of synthetic substrates, laborious and tedious procedures for highly sensitive detection.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is primarily associated with non-human-primates (NHPs) in Africa, which also infect humans. Since its introduction to Brazil in 2014, CHIKV has predominantly thrived in urban cycles, involving Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Limited knowledge exists regarding CHIKV occurrence and implications in rural and sylvatic cycles where neotropical NHPs are potential hosts, from which we highlight Leontopithecus chrysomelas (Kuhl, 1820), the golden-headed lion tamarin (GHLT), an endangered species endemic to the Atlantic Forest (AF) in Southern Bahia State, Brazil.

3D bioprinting of plant cells has emerged as a promising technology for plant cell immobilization and related applications. Despite the numerous progress in mammal cell printing, the bioprinting of plant cells is still in its infancy and needs further investigation. Here, we present a systematic study on optimizing the 3D bioprinting of plant cells, using carrots as an example, towards enhanced resolution and cell viability.
