Background: Historically, anterior-posterior (AP) spread assessments were often used to determine the length that a distal cantilever could be extended off an implant-supported fixed full-arch prosthesis.
Types Of Studies Reviewed: The authors searched the literature for articles that used AP spread to calculate cantilever size to be constructed off implants bearing a fixed implant-supported full-arch rehabilitation.
Results: The data indicate that the relationship between AP spread and cantilever length is not linear and many influences (such as beam theory, cantilever size differences in the mandible versus maxilla, number and distribution of placed implants, prosthetic materials, and framework design) need to be considered when computing cantilever length with respect to fixed implant-supported prostheses.
Practical Implications: Recommendations using AP spread assessments to compute cantilever lengths have not been validated by means of prospective scientific evaluations. Therefore, AP spread evaluation is just one of many issues that need to be considered when determining distal cantilever length associated with a fixed full-arch implant-bearing prosthesis.

We present the design and commissioning of a cryogenic low-vibration test facility that measures displacement noise from a gram-scale silicon cantilever at the level of 10-16m/Hz at 1 kHz. This sensitivity is necessary for future tests of thermal noise models on cross sections of silicon suspension samples proposed for future gravitational-wave detectors. A volume of ∼36 l is enclosed by radiation shields cooling an optical test cavity that is suspended from a multi-stage pendulum chain providing isolation from acoustic and environmental noise.

Background: Determining the distal cantilever length in All-on-Four (All-on-4) implant-supported prostheses is a major factor in the long-term success of these prostheses. The difference in mechanical properties of materials used in the fabrication of these prostheses, such as polyether ether ketone (PEEK), may have an impact on the determination of the cantilever length that best distributes stress.
Aim: To study the distribution of stress in All-on-4 mandibular prostheses in the bone, implants, and framework according to difference cantilever length in PEEK prosthetic framework using three-dimensional finite element analysis.

An all-fiber vibration sensor based on the Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) is proposed and experimentally evaluated in this study. The sensor is fabricated by introducing a Fabry-Perot cavity to the single-mode fiber using femtosecond laser ablation.
