Published: March 2021

Background: The negative impact of COPD on patients is not only physical, but also social and psychological.

Objectives: To examine the effects of decreased exercise capacity on health outcomes in patients with COPD.

Methods: 516 COPD patients divided into four groups according to the six-minute walking distances. Perception of dyspnea, quality of life, psychological symptoms were compared between groups.

Results: All the disease-specific quality of life scores of patients walking over 350 m were significantly better than other groups (p<0,001). Anxiety, depression and dyspnea scores were found to be lower (p<0.001) in all those walking over 350 m (p<0,001).

Conclusions: It has been observed that markers such as quality of life, anxiety and depression, which are known to be affected in COPD patients, progress better especially in patients walking over 350 m.

Introduction: In 2020, 368 million people globally were affected by knee osteoarthritis, and prevalence is projected to increase with 74% by 2050. Relatively high rates of dissatisfactory results after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), as reported by approximately 20% of patients, may be caused by sub-optimal knee alignment and balancing. While mechanical alignment has traditionally been the goal, patient-specific alignment strategies are gaining interest.

Departments of Physiotherapy, School of Medicine, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Gondar, Gondar, Ethiopia.

Introduction: Kinesiophobia has a major health impact on patients with Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in their functional and physical activities, which leads to poor outcomes, loss of motivation, loss of mobility, and decreased quality of life.
