Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the serum levels of various proteins related to myelin and inflammation in children with ADHD compared to healthy controls, focusing on their connection to clinical severity and irritability.
  • Researchers included 141 ADHD children aged 8-14 and 135 typical controls, measuring protein levels using specific assays and assessing behaviors with standardized scales.
  • Results indicated significantly higher levels of certain proteins (MAG, CDNF, hs-CRP, reelin, cerebellin) in ADHD children, alongside increased irritability, and noted significant correlations between some protein levels and clinical symptoms of ADHD and related disorders.

Novel antidepressants are predominantly evaluated preclinically in rodent models of chronic stress in which animals experience a single prolonged exposure to chronic stress prior to treatment. Rodent models of a single episode of chronic stress translate poorly to human depressive disorders, which are commonly marked by recurring depressive episodes. Intravenous administration of Reelin has previously been shown to resolve immobility in the forced swim test of rats exposed to a single prolonged exposure to chronic stress.

Aims: Intracranial germ cell tumour (IGCT) is a type of rare central nervous system tumour that mainly occurs in children and adolescents, with great variation in its incidence rate and molecular characteristics in patients from different populations. The genetic alterations of IGCT in the Chinese population are still unknown.

Methods And Results: In this study, 47 patients were enrolled and their tumour specimens were analysed by whole-exome sequencing (WES).

Purpose: The global protein profile of the aqueous humor has been found to correlate with the severity of retinal vascular disease. Studying the aqueous humor in central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) with proteomic techniques may bring insights to the molecular mechanisms underlying the condition.

Methods: Aqueous humor samples from treatment naïve patients with CRVO complicated by macular edema (n = 28) and age-matched controls (n = 20) were analyzed by label-free quantification liquid chromatography - tandem mass spectrometry.

Although the risk of breast cancer increases with advancing age, some regions have larger number of young breast cancer patients (≤45 years-old), such as the Middle East, Eastern Asia, and North Africa, with more aggressive and poorly differentiated tumors. We aimed to conduct an analysis in an attempt to understand the aggressive nature of early-onset breast cancer, and to identify potential drivers of early-onset breast cancer using gene expression profiling datasets in a population-dependent manner. Functional genomics experiments data were acquired from cBioPortal database for cancer genomics, followed by the stratification of patients based on the age at representation of breast cancer and race.
