Published: February 2021

This review summarizes the process of the discovery, research, and development of a cardioactive component, mesaconine, from the lateral roots of Aconitum carmichaelii ("Fu Zi"). To date, pre-clinical showed that mesaconine is a novel type of cardiotonic lead drug with relatively high potency, low toxicity, and a new mechanism.

Qiliqiangxin (QLQX) capsule consists of 11 herbs, namely Huang qi (astragalus membranaceus), Ren shen (ginseng), Fu zi (radix aconiti carmichaeli), Dan shen (salvia miltiorrhiza), Ting li zi (lepidium seed), Ze xie (rhizoma alismatis), Yu zhu (radix polygonati officinalis), Gui zhi (cassia twig), Hong hua (carthamus tinctorious), Xiang jia Pi (cortex periplocae), Chen Pi (pericarpium citri reticulatae), and it is a standardized commercial formula designed to address yang deficiency and to restore the balance of qi in the heart. QLQX is also known to invigorate the blood and promote the circulation of the blood and to promote the use of fluids to relieve water retention and edema, and can be used in cardiovascular diseases such as mild to moderate congestive heart failure resulting from coronary artery disease and hypertension. The further research on the effect of QLQX on cardiac function in mice after myocardial infarction was manipulated.

Apoptosis and cuproptosis Co-activated Copper-based metal-organic frameworks for cancer therapy.

J Nanobiotechnology

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200433, P. R. China.

Lung cancer, predominantly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), remains a significant global health challenge, with limited therapeutic options for patients with KRAS-mutated tumors. Herein, a copper-based metal-organic framework (Cu-MOF) was applied as a novel cuproptosis-mediated nanoplatform for lung cancer therapy. Cu-MOF would disassemble and liberate copper ions under the acidic microenvironment of lysosomes of cancer cells, initiating a cascade of cellular events.

Wound infection is a major factor affecting the speed and quality of wound healing. While hydrogen peroxide (HO) is recognized for its antibacterial capacity and facilitation of wound healing, its administration requires careful dosage differentiation. Inappropriately matched dosages can protract the healing of infected wounds.

Background: Fu-zi decoction (FZD) has a long history of application for treating Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as a classic formulation. However, its underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. This study aimed to decipher the potential mechanism of FZD in treating RA, with a specific focus on receptor activator of nuclear factor κB/receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand (RANK/RANKL) signaling pathway.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a clinical syndrome characterized by a rapid decline in renal function, and is associated with a high risk of death. Many pathological changes happen in the process of AKI, including crucial alterations to oxidative stress levels. Numerous efforts have thus been made to develop effective medicines to scavenge excess reactive oxygen species (ROS).
