A 54-year-old woman presented with severe maxillary resorption, which resulted in an unstable maxillary removable denture. Due to poor anatomical conditions, the prosthodontic solution posed for the patient was an implant-supported maxillary overdenture based on four implants. This report presents the detailed workflow for CAD/CAM-fabricated, individually milled zirconia bars and an electroplated superstructure framework for an implant-supported removable overdenture, which enabled good retention and an optimal esthetic result. A critical element in the present case was the production of electroplated secondary elements, which are highly precise, with a homogenous layer of gold. No retention loss was observed after 12 months in use.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) based substrates have great potential for quantitative analysis of hazardous substances using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) due to their significant signal enhancement, but face challenges like complex preparation, and lack of tunability. Here, we have successfully prepared a well-defined core-satellite superstructure (ZIF-8@Ag) through solvent-induced assembly of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on truncated rhombic dodecahedral ZIF-8. By wisely selecting toluene as the solvent, the assembly process can be easily initiated through ultrasonic treatment and it allows for precise morphological adjustments to build a range of superstructures with different assembly densities of Ag NPs feed ratio tuning.

A new series of 222 adelite-type Co(GeO)(OH) ( = La-Sm) single crystals were grown by a high-temperature, high-pressure hydrothermal method (650 °C and 100 MPa). Single-crystal diffraction refinements yielded chiral one-dimensional (1D) chains of Co along the axis with an average 2.98 Å separation between Co centers in the [CoO(OH)] ribbon chains.

Potassium manganese-based Prussian blue analogs (KMn-HCF) hold great potential as cathodes for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, the rapid synthesis process often results in excessively small particle sizes, increasing surface area and thereby intensifying side reactions with the electrolyte, which can damage the cathode electrolyte interface (CEI) and diminish cycling stability. Herein, we designed a topological phase transition strategy to assemble small KMn-HCF particles into a 600 nm cubic superstructure.

Mimicking the superstructures and properties of spherical biological encapsulants such as viral capsids and ferritin offers viable pathways to understand their chiral assemblies and functional roles in living systems. However, stereospecific assembly of artificial polyhedra with mechanical properties and guest-binding attributes akin to biological encapsulants remains a formidable challenge. Here we report the stereospecific assembly of dynamic supramolecular snub cubes from 12 helical macrocycles, which are held together by 144 weak C-H hydrogen bonds.

In this brief contribution-happily afforded by the 20th anniversary of Physics of Life Reviews-we take the opportunity to reflect on our earlier published paper, which had introduced a theoretical framework, the VIMAP (Vienna Integrated Model of (Top-Down and Bottom-up processes in) Art Perception; (Pelowski et al., [1])) that has come to represent a major basis for organizing, anticipating, and empirically investigating the nuanced, multivariate visual art experience. We look back at the original model and its hypotheses, especially as these regard distinct "outcomes," which we had argued may provide a superstructure of supraordinate, shared varieties of art experience detected across individual meetings of viewer, context, and artworks.
