Objective: The prevalence of anemia during pregnancy is as high as 80% in some sections of the Indian population. Iron therapy in different forms has been found to alleviate anemia and yield good fetomaternal outcome. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of intravenous iron sucrose (IVIS) versus oral iron in treating anemia among the antenatal mothers attending a tertiary care center of Northeast India.

Materials And Methods: One hundred women between 18 and 28 weeks of gestation with diagnosed iron-deficiency anemia and hemoglobin (Hb) of 7-10.9 g/dL were enrolled to be administered either oral ferrous sulfate 200 mg twice daily or requisite dose of IVIS 100 mg in 100 ml normal saline on alternate days. Hb and hematocrit were measured at the time of enrollment, 4 week, and 8 week of therapy. Acceptability of both the drugs based on like and dislike after interviewing the study participants was recorded. Adverse drug reactions, gestational age at delivery, and neonatal birth weight were also noted in both the groups. The results were analyzed by Student's -test and Chi-square test.

Results: Hb and hematocrit values were found to be increased in both the groups at 4 and 8 weeks. When both the groups were compared, the rise in the values was higher in the iron sucrose group (at 4 week = 0.01 and at 8 week = 0.00). The number of participants who reached target Hb levels at 4 weeks was 41 (82%) with oral iron and 48 (96%) with iron sucrose. In the iron sucrose group, no adverse effects were observed, suggesting its safety, and the acceptability and newborn birth weight were noted to be higher.

Conclusion: IVIS was found to be more effective than oral iron therapy in treating antenatal anemia with no serious adverse drug reactions.

Background: The biopharmaceutical industry is increasingly interested in the analysis of trace metals due to their significant impact on product quality and drug safety. Certain metals can potentially accelerate the formation of degradants or aggregates in biotherapeutic proteins, leading to drug product quality concerns. A better understanding of metal-mAb interactions would aid in the development of purification processes and formulations, thereby ensuring better drug quality and safety.

Dihydroporphyrin iron (DH-Fe) is a novel plant growth regulator that plays significant roles in plant stress resistance. We found that is extremely sensitive to low temperature (LT) with a threshold of 25°C. To evaluate whether and how DH-Fe alleviates LT stress in , different DH-Fe concentrations (0, 10, 20, and 40 μg·L) were applied to estimate its effects on C and N metabolism and antioxidative capacity in grown under 20°C.

: Intravenous (IV) iron administration is used widely for treating anemia in hemodialysis (HD) patients. In this study, we investigated the safety of IV iron therapy in this population. : This study analyzed claims data from the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) and included patients with end-stage renal disease who were receiving HD for more than 3 months as of 1 January 2019.

This study comprehensively analyzes the mineral and heavy metal profiles of seven honey types, focusing on the contents of potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb), with particular emphasis on honey produced in eastern Morocco. Multifloral honey was found to have the highest total mineral content (661 mg/kg), while rosemary honey had the lowest (201.31 mg/kg), revealing the strong influence of floral and botanical origin.
