Four new species of caddisflies are added to the fauna of Mekong River, Laos. Described and illustrated are and (Ecnomidae), (Polycentropodidae), and (Psychomyiidae) from tributaries of the Mekong River, Laos. can be distinguished by the characters of the superior appendages, which are slender and club-shaped in lateral view. In , the inferior appendages are tubular with a concave incision subapically and truncated apex. has the distal process of the dorsal branch of the inferior appendage close to the base of the inferior appendages and the length of the process is half of inferior appendages. can be distinguished by the structure of the dorsal branches of the harpagones and apical sclerite. The outer branches of the harpago in the latter species are bifurcated and bent 90° degrees outward, and the inner dorsal branches of harpago are curved outward. The apical sclerite is indiscernible.

Background: Fractionated atrial potential (FAP) during sinus rhythm (SR) may be a new target for ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the effects of the direction of activation and premature atrial contraction (PAC) on FAP is unknown. Therefore, we examined the impact of anisotropic conduction and PAC on the distribution and areas of FAP.

Centro Estadual de Educação Profissional Prof. Antônio de Pinho Lima (CEEP/RR).

Two new species of Metrichia from Roraima State, Brazil, are described and illustrated, representing additional records of Metrichia from the Brazilian Amazon biome. The male of Metrichia iracema sp nov. is characterized by inferior appendages each elongate, with an acute apical projection and a deep C-shaped notch, tergum X apex slightly incised, and dorsal hook with a longer dorsal branch extending anterad.

Effective ablation settings that predict chronic scar after atrial ablation with HELIOSTAR™ multi-electrode radiofrequency balloon catheter.

J Interv Card Electrophysiol

November 2024

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Utah, 30 N 1900 E Rm 4A100, Salt Lake City, UT, 84132-2101, USA.

Background: Radiofrequency balloon (RFB) ablation (HELIOSTAR™, Biosense Webster) has been developed to improve pulmonary vein ablation efficiency over traditional point-by-point RF ablation approaches. We aimed to find effective parameters for RFB ablation that result in chronic scar verified by late gadolinium enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR).

Methods: A chronic canine model (n = 8) was used to ablate in the superior vena cava (SVC), the right superior and the left inferior pulmonary vein (RSPV and LIPV), and the left atrial appendage (LAA) with a circumferential ablation approach (RF energy was delivered to all electrodes simultaneously) for 20 s or 60 s.

Primary simple conjunctival cysts are congenital, non-neoplastic, fluid-filled lesions lined by non-keratinizing squamous epithelium without dermal appendages. They are usually located in the anterior superonasal or superotemporal orbit and are typically managed with complete surgical excision. A 69-year-old woman presented with a 10-month history of diplopia and a 2-week history of right lower eyelid swelling.
