The nectar of Lindl. contains sugar, amino acids and other nutritional components, suggesting that it could be developed for food and food additives. To understand the effects of the nectar on human health, we investigated its chemical constituents. Two new flavonoid glycosides, cameretiins A and B and , and two known flavonoid glycosides, kaempferol 3--(2''----coumaroyl)--D-glucopyranoside and tiliroside were obtained from the nectar of Lindl. Their structures were determined based on analysis of their spectroscopic data and by comparison with 1D NMR spectroscopic data of known compounds reported in the literature. Compounds were first isolated from the nectar of Lindl.

Ma̅nuka honey is known for its strong bioactivity, which arises from the autocatalytic conversion of 1,3-dihydroxyacetone (dihydroxyacetone, DHA) in the floral nectar of (Myrtaceae) to the non-peroxide antibacterial compound methylglyoxal during honey maturation. DHA is also a minor constituent of the nectar of several other species. This study used high-performance liquid chromatography to test whether DHA was present in the floral nectar of five species in other genera of the family Myrtaceae: (Turcz.

Honey, as a commercial product, is a target of adulteration through inappropriate production practices and deliberate mislabelling of botanical origin. Floral nectar protein could be a good marker for determining the source flowers of honey, especially monofloral honeys. Here, nectar and monofloral honey from Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.
