The history of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) is briefly recounted by focusing on 4 major touchstones that can be considered instrumental in shaping its development as the third largest specialty board in the United States. These include the board's founding, its implementation of maintenance of certification, the creation of its research enterprise, and its culture. The importance of each of these touchstones to the unique contributions that the ABFM has made to the specialty board community is explored.

Aim: The aim of the study was to examine sensory and motor essential abilities required by nursing boards and assess their inclusion in prelicensure nursing program admissions.
Background: The nursing workforce should mirror diverse patient populations for better concordance; however, essential abilities restrictions hinder admissions for students with disabilities.
Method: Requirements for licensure were collected from state boards of nursing and compared with essential abilities admissions requirements from 58 prelicensure programs.

Introduction: Pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures are common and the most frequent pediatric fracture to require surgical intervention. After initial management, emergency department (ED) visits subsequent to this injury/surgery are not well characterized, but are of clinical interest.
Methods: Pediatric patients (age >1 y old and <13 y old) with supracondylar humerus fractures were identified from the 2010 to 2021 PearlDiver M157 administrative database.

Background: Optic neuritis (ON) is a complex clinical syndrome that has diverse etiologies and treatments based on its subtypes. Notably, ON associated with multiple sclerosis (MS ON) has a good prognosis for recovery irrespective of treatment, whereas ON associated with other conditions including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease is often associated with less favorable outcomes. Delay in treatment of these non-MS ON subtypes can lead to irreversible vision loss.
