Background: The regulatory role of the apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele in the clinical manifestations of spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the APOE ε4 allele on cognitive and motor functions in SCA3 patients.
Methods: This study included 281 unrelated SCA3 patients and 182 controls.
Background: Understanding site-related factors that influence enrolment within multicenter randomized controlled trials (RCT) may help reduce trial delays and cost over-runs and prevent early trial discontinuation. In this analysis of PROSPECT (Probiotics: Prevention of Severe Pneumonia and Endotracheal Colonization Trial), we describe patient enrolment patterns and examine factors influencing site-based monthly enrolment.

Investigating the diverse causes and risk factors is essential to develop targeted interventions, enhance perinatal care, and reduce the incidence of this devastating outcome. Background: As air travel and immobility are risk factors for venous thromboembolism, we aimed to test the hypothesis that internationally transferred trauma patients have a high incidence of venous thromboembolism on arrival.
Methods: A prospectively maintained registry of all international transferred trauma patients who presented to our level I trauma center from January 2023 to June 2024 was retrospectively reviewed. Patients with either lower extremity venous duplex ultrasound or computed tomography scan of the chest with contrast on arrival were included.
