Here we investigated the basis of the polarized bleb morphology of metastatic melanoma cells migrating in non-adhesive confinement. Using high-resolution time-lapse imaging and specific molecular perturbations, we found that EGF signaling via PI3K stabilizes and maintains a polarized leader bleb.

Among various mechanisms of nerve injury, retractor-induced compression against the pelvic sidewall has been identified as a particularly crucial causative factor. Despite this well-recognized mechanism and its clinical importance, few studies have investigated specific preventive strategies for this iatrogenic complication.
