Discordant findings in biliary atresia in 6 sets of twins are discussed regarding the current concepts in aetiology of biliary atresia. Although a genetic, inflammatory, immunological or toxic origin cannot be excluded, peri- or even postnatal ischaemia seems more likely.

Purpose: Proton FLASH has been investigated using cyclotron and synchrocyclotron beamlines but not synchrotron beamlines. We evaluated the impact of dose rate (ultra-high [UHDR] vs. conventional [CONV]) and beam configuration (shoot-through [ST] vs.

Recurrent fusions drive the pathogenesis of many hematological malignancies. Compared to routine cytogenetic/fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) studies, the RNA-based next-generation sequencing (NGS) fusion assay enables the identification of both known and novel fusions. In many cases, these recurrent fusions are crucial for diagnosis and are associated with prognosis, relapse prediction, and therapeutic options.

: This study evaluates the diagnostic accuracy of [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([F]FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) using bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and clinical follow-up as reference standards. It further identifies predictive factors for bone marrow involvement (BMI) in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients. : NHL patients who underwent [F]FDG PET and BMB at diagnosis in a tertiary cancer center were included in this study.

Background: An increase in pandemics of zoonotic origin has led to a growing interest in using statistical prediction to identify hotspots of zoonotic emergence. However, the rare nature of pathogen emergence requires modellers to impose simplifying assumptions, which limit the model's validity. We present a novel approach to hotspot mapping that aims to improve validity by combining model-based insights with expert knowledge.

Various prognostic scoring systems in myelofibrosis (MF) have been developed to guide clinical decision-making in MF. However, discrepancies between different scoring systems for individual patients remain poorly understood, which can result in conflicting treatment recommendations. Moreover, data regarding there applicability in Asian populations remain scarce.
