About 30% of adults with autism are minimally verbal. Past research suggested that after age five, few gain verbal fluency, but studies have rarely investigated whether family environmental factors contribute to the acquisition of verbal fluency. The present study utilized data from the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised to compare changes in verbal fluency for 404 individuals with autism from childhood to adolescence and adulthood. Socioeconomic factors were examined across fluency groups (i.e., those who did/did not achieve verbal fluency). Findings indicated that fully 60% of those who were minimally verbal in early childhood acquired verbal fluency in adolescence and adulthood. Parent socioeconomic status differed across fluency groups, suggesting the importance of environmental factors for individual development.

This study, therefore, aimed to examine the reliability of direct-to-home tele-neuropsychological assessment (TNP). The sample included 105 cognitively healthy individuals aged between 50-83 years, and 47 patients diagnosed with neurocognitive disorders (mild cognitive impairment and early-stage Alzheimer's type dementia).

A substantial proportion of patients suffer from Post-COVID Syndrome (PCS) with fatigue and impairment of memory and concentration being the most important symptoms. We here set out to perform in-depth neuropsychological assessment of PCS patients referred to the Neurologic PCS clinic compared to patients without sequelae after COVID-19 (non-PCS) and healthy controls (HC) to decipher the most prevalent cognitive deficits. This study investigated the impact of engaging in concurrent behaviors on the emergence of untrained stimulus-stimulus relations, specifically examining interruptions, accuracy, and reaction times during test. Six participants completed a computerized matching-to-sample task under three conditions: a baseline condition, a singing condition hypothesized to be incompatible with covert verbal behavior, and a foot tapping condition hypothesized to be compatible with covert verbal behavior. The tempo was kept consistent across both singing and foot tapping tasks.
