Aims: This study was carried out to evaluate the degree of accuracy of age-based weight estimation methods in assessing the weight of the Nigerian child.
Method: The weights of one thousand, four hundred and fifty-six (1,456) children were measured and compared with the updated Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS), Best guess, Nelson and Luscombe & Owen methods.
Result: The updated APLS, Nelson and Luscombe & Owen methods underestimated the weights in younger children while overestimating in older ones. Best guess overestimated the weights across all ages. The Nelson formula had the best agreement within 10% and 20% of the measured weights among all methods. A linear regression analysis produced an equation for weight estimation: weight (W) = 2.058 Y + 9.925, where W is weight in kilogram and Y is the age in years.
Conclusion: None of the weight estimation formulae assessed was entirely accurate in our study, though the Nelson method showed superior agreement.

Although CCL17 has been reported to exert a vital role in many cancers, the related studies in the thyroid carcinoma have never reported. As a chemokine, CCL17 plays a positive role by promoting the infiltration of immune cells into the tumor microenviroment (TME) to influence tumor invasion and metastasis. Therefore, this study is aimed to investigate the association of CCL17 level with potential prognostic value on tumor immunity in the thyroid carcinoma (THCA) based on the bioinformatics analysis.

A novel air-to-liquid mass transfer system using wetted rotating membranes was designed to enhance air-to-liquid carbon dioxide (CO) mass transfer efficiency. Traditional methods, such as sparging, are energy-intensive, but the rotating membrane reduces energy demands by optimising membrane wetting via rotational motion. Experimental tests were conducted using a small-scale system with a membrane width of 0.

Insects provide important pollination services for cops. While land use intensification has resulted in steep declines of wild pollinator diversity across agricultural landscapes, releasing managed honeybees has been proposed as a countermeasure. However, it remains uncertain whether managed honeybees can close the pollination gap of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.

Background: Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), may offer an alternative treatment strategy for impulsive behaviour. By modulating brain activity, these techniques could potentially enhance impulse control and mitigate impulsivity.
Aims: To provide a comprehensive analysis of the correlation between NIBS parameters, targeted brain regions and impulsivity.
