The large-conductance calcium- and voltage-activated potassium (BK) channels, encoded by the KCNMA1 gene, play important roles in neuronal function. Mutations in KCNMA1 have been found in patients with various neurodevelopmental features, including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Previous studies of KCNMA1 knockout mice have suggested altered activity patterns and behavioral flexibility, but it remained unclear whether these changes primarily affect immediate behavioral adaptation or longer-term learning processes.

Background: Despite accumulating evidence and recommendations for management of colonic diverticular bleeding (CDB), the changes in its clinical management and outcomes remain unknown.
Methods: We performed a retrospective tendency analysis on a biennial basis, a propensity score-matched cohort study between the first and latter half groups, and mediation analyses to compare the diagnostic and treatment methods between January 2010 and December 2019 (CODE BLUE-J Study).
Results: A total of 6575 patients with CDB were included.

Infectious intestinal diseases (IIDs) pose a significant health and economic burden worldwide. Recent observations at the Tri-Service General Hospital, Taiwan, suggest a potential association between IIDs and neurodegenerative diseases, prompting an investigation into this relationship. This study explored interactions between IIDs and neurodegenerative diseases.

Pharmacists have often been viewed as the last line of defence against prescription errors in traditional care models. Although a large number of chronic care patients are using telehealth services to increase their access to continuous care, researchers have yet to investigate prescription safety in such settings in Australia. The absence of this literature is particularly concerning in the context of the Australian Government's admission in a 2024 report that the national health system has not adequately addressed the World Health Organization's 'Medication without harm' objective.

Background: Lupus podocytopathy (LP) is a non-immune complex-mediated glomerular lesion in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), characterized by the diffuse effacement of podocyte processes without immune complex deposition or with only mesangial immune complex deposition. LP is a rare cause of nephrotic syndrome in SLE patients with implications for prognosis and treatment.
Case Report: We present the case of a 28-year-old woman with a medical history of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) who presented with lower limb edema, dyspnea, hypercholesterolemia, with nephrotic range proteinuria, without acute kidney injury, and laboratory findings compatible with auto-immune hemolytic anemia.
