Vascularization is one of the key steps for engraftment in regenerative medicine. Previously one of the authors had discovered peptides exhibiting significant angiogenic activities designated AGP and elucidated the active core. For neovascularization basic fibroblast growth factor is used although permeation can be envisaged. The original AGPs did not suffer from this although their half-life times are short because of decomposition by endogenous enzymes. Several new AGP-libraries have been constructed and their enzymatic resistance has been investigated by the use of human umbilical vein endothelial cells to find candidates for clinical applications.

Purposes: In the peptide mapping reduction process for monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and other proteins, the conventional reducing reagents β-mercaptoethanol (β-ME) and dithiothreitol (DTT) pose challenges due to their strong odor and toxicity at high concentrations. Cysteine (Cys), an essential amino acid for new protein synthesis, is an overlooked, nontoxic, and odorless reducing agent. This study presents a novel peptide mapping method using Cys as the reducing agent.

Fibroblast activation protein (FAP) has been considered a promising target for tumor imaging and therapy. This study designed a novel peptide, FAP-HXN, specifically targeting FAP and exhibiting significant potential as a radionuclide-labeled theranostic agent. Preclinical studies were conducted to evaluate the potency, selectivity, and efficacy of FAP-HXN.

Objective: The objective of this study is to assess the impact of nano platinum-hydrogen saline (Pt NPs + H) on oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) in neonatal rats, with the goal to contribute new insights into the therapeutic strategies for retinopathy of prematurity.
Methods: Pt NPs + H formulation was synthesized to address OIR in a rat model. Subsequent examination included the assessment of retinal blood vessel distribution and morphology through hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and isolectin B4 (IB4) staining techniques.

Background: Adamantane derivatives, such as memantine (Mem) and amantadine (Ada), have distinct mechanisms and therapeutic applications. Ada is primarily utilized as an antiviral and anti-Parkinson drug without significant pro-cognitive effects, Mem is effective in various clinical conditions characterized by cognitive deficits, including Alzheimer's disease. Recent evidence highlights a neuroprotective role for Aβ monomers, suggesting that preventing their aggregation into toxic oligomers could be a promising therapeutic strategy.

Background: Patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) typically present with heterogeneity in the extent of cardiac dysfunction and extra-cardiac comorbidities, which play a decisive role for survival after transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention (TTVI).
Objectives: This aim of this study was to create a survival tree-based model to determine the cardiac and extra-cardiac features associated with 2-year survival after TTVI.
Methods: The study included 918 patients (derivation set, n = 631; validation set, n = 287) undergoing TTVI for severe TR.
