Uterine leiomyomas are the most common benign gynecological tumors in women of reproductive age and are often associated with localized symptoms. However, emerging evidence suggests a link between uterine leiomyomas and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease (CVD), particularly myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemic stroke (IS). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between uterine leiomyomas and the risk of CVD events in young women aged 20-39 years using a large, nationwide, population-based cohort.

Cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM) is a diagnostic entity defined as cardiac dysfunction (diastolic and/or systolic) in patients with liver cirrhosis, in the absence of overt cardiac disorder. Pathogenically, CCM stems from a combination of systemic and local hepatic factors that, through hemodynamic and neurohormonal changes, affect the balance of cardiac function and lead to its remodeling. Vascular changes in cirrhosis, mostly driven by portal hypertension, splanchnic vasodilatation, and increased cardiac output alongside maladaptively upregulated feedback systems, lead to fluid accumulation, venostasis, and cardiac dysfunction.

Background: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity globally. This study aims to evaluate the trends in IHD burden across different socioeconomic regions using data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021) and to understand the impact of the metabolic risk factors on these trends.
Methods: Data from GBD 2021 was analyzed to evaluate the global age-standardized death rates (ASDR) and disability-adjusted life years (ASRDALYs) linked to IHD.

Introduction: Carotid artery stenosis is a significant contributor to ischemic strokes, and its surgical management includes carotid artery endarterectomy (CEA), transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TF-CAS), and trans carotid artery revascularization (TCAR). CEA has traditionally been preferred, but TF-CAS and TCAR are also excellent alternative options if the anatomy of the vessels allows them. This study reports our short- and mid-term outcomes after carotid artery revascularization in symptomatic patients at a stroke center.

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4A1 (eIF4A1) is an ATP-dependent RNA helicase that participates in a variety of biological and pathological processes such as cell proliferation and apoptosis, and cancer. In this study we investigated the role of eIF4A1 in ischemic heart disease. The myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) model was established in mice by ligation of the left anterior descending artery for 45 min with the subsequent reperfusion for 24 h; cultured neonatal mouse ventricular cardiomyocytes (NMVCs) treated with HO (200 μM) or H/R (12 h hypoxia and 12 h reoxygenation) were used for in vitro study.
