Materials Cloud is a platform designed to enable open and seamless sharing of resources for computational science, driven by applications in materials modelling. It hosts (1) archival and dissemination services for raw and curated data, together with their provenance graph, (2) modelling services and virtual machines, (3) tools for data analytics, and pre-/post-processing, and (4) educational materials. Data is citable and archived persistently, providing a comprehensive embodiment of entire simulation pipelines (calculations performed, codes used, data generated) in the form of graphs that allow retracing and reproducing any computed result. When an AiiDA database is shared on Materials Cloud, peers can browse the interconnected record of simulations, download individual files or the full database, and start their research from the results of the original authors. The infrastructure is agnostic to the specific simulation codes used and can support diverse applications in computational science that transcend its initial materials domain.

This study uses an oceanic energy budget to estimate the ocean heat transport convergence in the North Atlantic during 2005-2018. The horizontal convergence of the ocean heat transport is estimated using ocean heat content tendency primarily derived from satellite altimetry combined with space gravimetry. The net surface energy fluxes are inferred from mass-corrected divergence of atmospheric energy transport and tendency of the ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis combined with top-of-the-atmosphere radiative fluxes from the clouds and the Earth's radiant energy system project.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its variants are a continuous threat to human life. An urgent need remains for simple and fast tests that reliably detect active infections with SARS-CoV-2 and its variants in the early stage of infection. Here we introduce a simple and rapid activity-based diagnostic (ABDx) test that identifies SARS-CoV-2 infections by measuring the activity of a viral enzyme, Papain-Like protease (PLpro).

We investigated the role of a nanoporous particle on the formation of macroscopic solid in the framework of equilibrium thermodynamics and from the free-energy perspective. The model particle has cylindrical pores with equidistant circular openings on the particle surface. We focused on two potentially limiting steps: (i) the solid nucleation from liquid inside a single pore and (ii) the bridging of multiple pores on the particle surface.

Objective: This study examined the influence of smoking on glycaemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using flash continuous glucose monitoring (F-CGM) systems, as well as its potential mediating role in the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and glycaemic control.
Methods: This study included 378 subjects with T1D (18% smokers). Glucose metrics cloud downloads were obtained over a period of 14 days.

The surface color and materials of sidewalk pavements exhibit different albedo characteristics, leading to varied surface urban heat island effects in subtropical regions. To quantify the effect of pavement surface color and material on SUHI, Prefabricated Concrete Structure brick (PCB), Granite brick (GB) and Dutch brick (DB) totaling 14 pavement samples in Hangzhou were placed under unshaded, cloud shaded and tree shaded conditions. CIELAB (International Commission on Illumination L*a*b*) color data, short-wave radiation (incoming and outgoing) and surface temperature were measured.
