Background: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) or combined with western medicine in the treatment of pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy has been widely used in clinical practice, but the overall efficacy and safety is still unclear. This paper aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety analysis of TCM or combined with western medicine for pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy.

Methods: PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang, the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, and China biomedical literature database (CBM) were searched for randomized controlled trials of TCM or combined with western medicine for pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy from the date of establishment to July 2020, and Baidu Scholar, Google Scholar, International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP), and Chinese Clinical Trials Registry (ChiCTR) were searched for unpublished grey literature. Two researchers independently applied RevMan 5.3 software for data extraction and risk assessment of bias.

Results: The effectiveness and safety of TCM or combined with western medicine for pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy is evaluated by means of the Adenoid (A) /(Nasopharyngeal (N) ratio, clinical efficacy, integral score of TCM syndromes, clinical single symptom score, disease specific quality of life for children with obstructive sleep apnea 18 items survey (OSA-18), Interleukin 4 (IL-4) and adverse reaction incidence.

Conclusion: This study will provide theoretical support for the clinical application of TCM or combined with western medicine for pediatric adenoidal hypertrophy.

Background: Currently, serum PSA is the most commonly used screening tool in clinical practice. However, PSA levels in the range of 4-10 ng/ml are considered the 'grey zone' of prostate cancer screening. Patients within this range need to be further evaluated using additional parameters such as PSA ratio, PSA density, and other indices to determine the necessity of prostate biopsy (PBx).

Anatomical-Based Filler Injection Techniques: Anteromedial, Buccal, and Lateral Cheek Hollow.

Aesthetic Plast Surg

January 2025

Division in Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Department of Oral Biology, Human Identification Research Institute, BK21 FOUR Project, Yonsei University College of Dentistry, 50-1 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, 03722, Korea.

Background: Hollowness in the anteromedial, buccal, and lateral cheek regions is a common concern in aesthetic medicine, often resulting from age-related volume loss and structural changes. Advanced filler injection techniques that incorporate a thorough understanding of facial anatomy are critical for achieving optimal and safe outcomes.

Objective: To review and detail anatomically guided filler injection techniques for addressing hollowness in specific cheek regions, considering facial anatomy, ethnic variations, and patient-specific aesthetic goals.

Haematological malignancies affect 12·5 in 100 000 pregnancies. Over the past two decades, the number of haematological malignancies in pregnancy has substantially increased. Life-threatening haematological malignancies in pregnancy, such as acute leukaemia and aggressive lymphomas, pose a unique therapeutic challenge: clinicians must consider both maternal and fetal wellbeing, aiming to deliver optimal curative therapy for the patient and a successful pregnancy outcome.

Background: To date, a growing body of evidence suggests that unfolded protein response (UPR) sensors play a vital role in carcinogenesis. However, it remains unclear whether they are involved in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and how they relate to clinical outcomes. This study aims to investigate the biological function and mechanism of how a novel UPR sensor, CREB3L1 works in PDAC and further evaluate its clinical application prospect.

Dispensing of misoprostol and mifepristone by pharmacies and chemist shops for self-management of medication abortion (MA) fills a crucial gap in settings where abortion care by trained health professionals is not readily available. This promising service delivery pathway, endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), is hindered by concerns of poor-quality care. Simulated clients collected data on MA pill dispensing practices from 92 pharmacies and chemist shops in three Nigerian states and 127 pharmacies in an Indian state that we have anonymized.
