Access to safe sanitation facilities remains a critical public health concern, especially in rapidly urbanizing countries like Ghana. This study investigates the determinants of household toilet ownership among property owners in three urban districts in Ghana. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 1,256 property owners selected through a multi-stage stratified sampling procedure.

Background: Universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is fundamental to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals due to its impact on gender equality as well as women's health and survival. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, there are many civil society organizations (CSOs) that are involved in raising awareness of SRHR issues and providing SRHR services to young people. Since the mid-twentieth century, the shared goal of healthcare systems of Canada and the Netherlands has been to achieve broad healthcare access and coverage for citizens despite their health system differences. However, the rhetoric of "state" control in Canada and "market" control in the Netherlands belies very different realities in both countries. A longer historical perspective uncovers the discrepancies between the rhetoric and reality of solidarity that has emerged - and still exists - in both countries.
