: Copper and zinc containing welding fumes are able to induce systemic inflammation in healthy subjects. In this study the no observed effect levels (NOEL) for welding fumes containing either copper or zinc were assessed.Fifteen healthy male volunteers participated in an exposure. Each subject was exposed to two different concentrations of both, copper and zinc containing welding fumes. Exposure was performed in the Aachen Workplace Simulation Lab.The NOEL was found at metal concentrations between 0.2 and 0.3 mg/m for copper and between 0.8 and 1.2 mg/m for zinc. The NOEL identified in this study was about a factor of 10 higher than the German workplace threshold limit values (TLV). However, TLV in other countries was in the same range or even higher than the NOEL indicating a considerable risk for workers.

The biosynthesis of nanomaterials is a vast and expanding field of study due to their applications in a variety of fields, particularly the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. Various synthetic routes, including physical and chemical methods, have been developed in order to generate metal nanoparticles (NPs) with definite shapes and sizes. In this review, focused on the recent advancements in the green synthetic methods for the generation of silver, zinc and copper NPs with simple and eco-friendly approaches and the potential of the biosynthesized metal and metal oxide NPs as alternative and therapeutic agent for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Heavy metals (HMs) pollution in agricultural soil-rice systems has attracted worldwide attention as it directly threatens regional ecological security and human health. To understand the heavy metal pollution of agriculture soil and rice in the high geological background areas, a total of 200 paddy soil and rice samples were collected in southeast Chongqing. The concentrations of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) in paddy soil and rice were analyzed.

The Bohai Sea (BS) is a semi-enclosed inland sea and China's most polluted coastal sea. With the rapid economic development of the circum-Bohai Sea region, large amounts of pollutants have been discharged into the BS, posing a significant threat to human health and the ecosystem. Great efforts have been made on investigating the levels of various pollutants in the BS; however, the priority pollutants which are required for the implementation of suitable environmental management and remediation measures in this system remain unclear.

Objective: To compare the mineral levels in umbilical vein and artery serum and to analyze the relationship between newborn birth weight and the mineral levels in umbilical vein and artery serum by measuring the mineral levels in umbilical vein and artery serum.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to recruit 101 pairs of maternal and newborn who were hospitalized in Danyang People's Hospital, Jiangsu Province from June to September 2021 as the participants. After delivery, umbilical vein and artery blood were collected, and the levels of manganese(Mn), iron(Fe), cobalt(Co), copper(Cu), zinc(Zn), selenium(Se), magnesium(Mg) and calcium(Ca) in umbilical vein and artery serum were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrum(ICP-MS).
