The aqueous-phase reaction of dimethylarsinc acid (DMAs(V)) with NaBH (THB) was studied under non-analytical conditions (1000 μg/mL As, 0.1 M HCl, 1% NaBH) with the aim of identifying intermediates and reaction products. The use of direct analysis in real time (DART) with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), in combination with two different chemical vapor generation systems, allowed the identification of some species not detected by GC-MS such as MeAs-AsMe-AsMe and the arsonium species [MeAs-AsMe] and [MeAs-AsMe-AsMe]. Many other methylated species of arsenic containing up to four arsenic atoms have been observed. Unfortunately, the oxidation mechanism that took place in the DART source interfered with the identification of some of those species formed in solution following THB reduction. The species identified by DART-HRMS, together with those previously identified by GC-MS (MeAsH, MeAsOH, MeAs, MeAsO, MeAsAsMeH, MeAsAsMe, and MeAs-O-AsMe)' enabled the formulation of hypotheses on the possible reaction pathways and revealed an aqueous-phase reactivity of DMAs(V) which could not be explained on the basis of current knowledge. Perceived risk for HIV acquisition among gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) may not align with their actual sexual HIV exposure. Factors associated with low/moderate perceived risk among GBMSM eligible for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) (based on their high estimated HIV exposure) have been poorly described in Latin America. This is a secondary analysis of a 2018 web-based cross-sectional survey in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

Vision transformer (ViT)and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) each possess distinct strengths in medical imaging: ViT excels in capturing long-range dependencies through self-attention, while CNNs are adept at extracting local features via spatial convolution filters. While ViT may struggle with capturing detailed local spatial information, critical for tasks like anomaly detection in medical imaging, shallow CNNs often fail to effectively abstract global context. This study aims to explore and evaluate hybrid architectures that integrate ViT and CNN to leverage their complementary strengths for enhanced performance in medical vision tasks, such as segmentation, classification, reconstruction, and prediction.

Purpose: The initiation of intracranial aneurysms has long been studied, mainly by the evaluation of the wall shear stress field. However, the debate about the emergence of hemodynamic stimuli still persists. This paper builds on our previous hypothesis that secondary flows play an important role in the formation cascade by examining the relationship between flow physics and vessel geometry.

Direction selectivity is a fundamental feature in the visual system. In the retina, direction selectivity is independently computed by ON and OFF circuits. However, the advantages of extracting directional information from these two independent circuits are unclear.

Objective: To explore the efficacy and safety of the direct inferior endplate approach in percutaneous endoscopic interlaminar discectomy (PEID) for the treatment of L5-S1 disc herniation.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of 116 patients with L5-S1 disc herniation treated with PEID; 74 patients underwent surgery via the direct inferior endplate approach (group A), and 42 patients underwent surgery via the indirect approach (group B). The number of intraoperative fluoroscopy exposures, establishment channel time, operation time, postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were compared between the 2 groups.
