Inspired by the adhesion differences on the surfaces of fresh and dried rose petals, a rose bionic self-cleaning fog collector (RBSC) was designed and prepared to realize a self-driven fog harvesting function. The droplet detachment iteration rate was revealed by the regulating mechanism of the surface adhesion force of the RBSC and the influence of bionic texture parameters, as demonstrated through the fog harvesting experiment and droplet detachment failure analysis. Through the surface adhesion force regulation, the probability of droplet dissipation with the airflow is reduced by increasing the falling droplets' mass, and the single surface fog capture efficiency is up to 740 mg cm h.

Currently, to deal with the increasingly severe energy crisis and environmental consequences, photocatalytic technology is considered as a promise solution, and the construction of Z-scheme heterostructures are important strategies to maximize the utilization of solar energy and improve photocatalytic performance. Herein, a novel full spectrum-responsive Z-scheme Bi-BiVO-BiTiO heterojunction was constructed by a facile hydrothermal method without any templates or surfactants. A series of detailed analyses revealed that the novel Bi-BiVO-BiTiO heterojunction catalyst were prepared successfully.

Through the lens of preclinical research on substance use disorders (SUD), I propose a reflection aimed at re-evaluating animal models in neuroscience, with a focus on ecological relevance. While rodent models have provided valuable insights into the neurobiology of SUD, the field currently faces a validation crisis, with findings often failing to translate into effective human treatments. Originally designed to address the lack of reproducibility in animal studies, the current global gold standard of rigorous standardization has led to increasingly controlled environments.

Diabetes is a growing global health crisis that requires effective therapeutic strategies to optimize treatment outcomes. This study aims to address this challenge by developing and characterizing extended-release polymeric matrix tablets containing metformin hydrochloride (M-HCl), a first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes, and honokiol (HNK), a bioactive compound with potential therapeutic benefits. The objective is to enhance glycemic control and overall therapeutic outcomes through an innovative dual-drug delivery system.

Fixing the earth: whole-systems thinking in Silicon Valley's environmental ideology.

Radboud Institute for Culture & History, Faculty of Arts, Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

Today, American tech actors express optimistic ideas about how to fix the Earth and halt climate change. Such "green" initiatives have in common that they capture the world in systems and propose large systemic, and mostly technological, solutions. Because of their reliance on techno-fixes, representatives of Silicon Valley express an ideology of ecomodernism, which believes that human progress can be "decoupled" from environmental decline.
