Drinking water containing excess fluoride is a major health concern across the globe. The present study reports the feasibility of zirconium impregnated hybrid anion exchange resin (HAIX-Zr) for treating fluoride contaminated groundwater. The HAIX-Zr resin was prepared by impregnating ZrO nanoparticles on polymeric anion exchanger resin. Fluoride uptake by HAIX-Zr was quite rapid, 60% removal was obtained within 30 min. Kinetics of fluoride uptake by HAIX-Zr resin followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and adsorption data fitted best to Freundlich adsorption isotherm model. Maximum fluoride uptake capacity was observed as 12.0 mg/g. The defluoridation capacity of the resin decreases with increase in solution pH. The co-existing anions like chloride, phosphate, bicarbonate, nitrate, and sulphate at 100 mg/L concentration significantly affected fluoride removal and bicarbonate showed the highest interference. Continuous flow packed bed experiments were performed with real groundwater. To maintain a lower pH, weak acid cation exchange resin (INDION-236) was used before HAIX-Zr. It was observed that reducing the pH of the sample water to 4-4.5, increased the number of treated bed volumes fifteen times. Regeneration of fluoride-containing resin was done by passing 3% NaOH and 3% NaCl solution through an exhausted resin bed. The results revealed that HAIX-Zr can effectively remove fluoride from groundwater.

The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites produced using three popular technologies. The tests were performed on composites produced from prepregs in an autoclave, the next variant is composites produced using the infusion method, and the third variant concerns composites produced using the vacuum-assisted hand lay-up method. For each variant, flat plates with dimensions of 1000 mm × 1000 mm were produced while maintaining similar material properties and fabric arrangement configuration.

In this work, selenium (IV) ions were adsorbed from aqueous solutions by the strongly basic anion exchange resin Amberlite IRA-400. The morphology of the resin before and after Se(IV) sorption was investigated using different techniques such as energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To determine the ideal sorption conditions, a batch approach was used to examine the variables affecting Se(IV) sorption performance, including pH, shaking time, adsorbent dosage, initial metal ion concentration, and temperature.

The oscillatory Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction is often used for the study of rotating spiral waves that are responsible for life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia. In this work, we explore the influence of a concentration gradient on the dynamics of spiral waves in the BZ-reaction system. Using ion-exchange resin beads, we introduce a gradient of hydrogen ions in a thin layer of BZ gel hosting a spiral wave.

-succinimidyl-[F]fluorobenzoate ([F]SFB) is commonly prepared through a three-step procedure starting from [F]fluoride ion. A number of methods for the single-step radiosynthesis of [F]SFB have been introduced recently, including the radiofluorination of diaryliodonium salts and the Cu-mediated F-fluorination of pinacol aryl boronates and aryl tributyl stannanes, but they still have the drawbacks of lengthy product purification procedures. In the present work, two approaches for the direct labeling of [F]SFB from diaryliodonium (DAI) salt () and pinacol aryl boronate () are evaluated, with a major focus on developing a fast and simple SPE-based purification procedure.

The removal of copper from wastewater of mine origin requires the use of an appropriate method. Sorption methods are considered to be one of the best solutions for removing copper from industrial wastewater at low levels. Metal(IV) phosphates have been reported as excellent sorption materials that can be highly selective for copper.
