Repeated low-intensity noise exposure exacerbates age-related hearing loss via RAGE signaling pathway.

Neurobiol Dis

Senior Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, The 6th Medical Center, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Medical School of Chinese PLA, State Key Laboratory of Hearing and Balance Science, National Clinical Research Center for Otorhinolaryngologic Diseases, Beijing 100048, China. Electronic address:

Repeated low-intensity noise exposure is prevalent in industrialized societies. It has long been considered risk-free until recent evidence suggests that the temporary threshold shift (TTS) induced by such exposure might be a high-risk factor for hearing loss. This study was conducted to further investigate the manner in which repeated low-intensity noise exposure contributed to hearing damage.

Interleukin (IL)-33 is released following tissue damage, causing airway inflammation and remodelling via reduced IL-33 (IL-33)/serum stimulation-2 (ST2) and oxidised IL-33 (IL-33)/receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE)/epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathways. This study aimed to identify associations of IL-33 with clinical outcomes and pathological mechanisms during viral lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD). Ultra-sensitive immunoassays were developed to measure IL-33, IL-33 and IL-33/sST2 complexes in samples from patients hospitalised with COVID-19.

Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, Gangwon State 24341, Republic of Korea; Institute of Medical Science, School of Medicine, Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, Gangwon State, South Korea. Electronic address:

The progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) results in irreversible pulmonary damage and sustained inflammatory responses. While alternative approaches have been explored, the specific role of alveolar epithelial cells in the pathogenesis of COPD remains unclear. Additionally, the association between emphysema and DAMP-RAGE signaling in COPD patients are not understood.

Why does distilled liquor (Baijiu) have a yellowish color: A comprehensive analysis.

Elucidating the mechanisms underlying Baijiu production is a shared aspiration among academic groups specializing in the field of Baijiu research. This study comprehensively examined the mechanisms underlying the yellowish coloration of Baijiu through a synergistic application of chromatographic, spectroscopic, and physical methodologies. Aging of Baijiu in earthenware pots involves the infiltration of mineral ions such as iron, aluminum, and calcium; however, these ions are detected at extremely low concentrations and are therefore not linked to the development of Baijiu's yellowish color.

Localized ablative immunotherapy enhances antitumor immunity by modulating the transcriptome of tumor-infiltrating Gamma delta T cells.

Gamma delta T cells (γδT cells) play crucial roles in the immune response against tumors, yet their functional dynamics under different cancer therapies remain poorly understood. Laser Ablative Immunotherapy (LAIT) is a novel cancer treatment modality combining local photothermal therapy (PTT) and intratumoral injection of an immunostimulant, N-dihydrogalactochitosan (glycated chitosan, GC). LAIT has been shown to induce systemic antitumor immune responses in pre-clinical studies and clinical trials, eradicating both treated local tumors and untreated distant metastases.
