Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder associated with the Philadelphia chromosome t (9;22) and the BCR-ABL fusion gene. The condition is relatively rare, accounting for 2.0% to 3.0% of childhood leukemia cases. CML has historically been a triphasic disease. Most patients are diagnosed in chronic phase. Without treatment, it inevitably progresses into a more aggressive accelerated phase and blast crisis. Some proportion of CML cases of blastic transformation develop an extramedullary disease that involves rarely central nervous system. This report describe an extremely rare case of 13-year-old girl with CML and extramedullary blast crisis in the central nervous system. Treatment options and monitoring of disease response are discussed.

Objective: This study examines the national prevalence of mental health disorders and their associated factors in Lebanon, specifically in the aftermath of the 2020 events, including the catastrophic events of Beirut blast and the concurrent financial meltdown amid the global pandemic.
Methods: Conducted between July and September 2022, the study interviewed a nationally representative sample of 1,000 Lebanese via telephone, using the Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) system. Gender-specific bivariate and multivariate models were generated for probable posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety.

Orthopedic injuries in Gaza, many of which would be straightforward to manage under normal circumstances, have become increasingly complex and challenging due to ongoing conflict, severe healthcare limitations, and delayed treatment. This review highlights cases of injuries that, if treated promptly, could have been managed with standard protocols but have evolved into complicated and difficult-to-treat conditions. Delayed care, lack of resources, and restricted rehabilitation significantly increase the complexity of treatment and lead to higher rates of complications, and impaired outcomes.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and RNA N6-methyladenosine (mA) have been linked to leukemia drug resistance. However, whether and how lncRNAs and mA coordinately regulate resistance remain elusive. Here, we show that many differentially expressed lncRNAs enrich mA, and more lncRNAs tend to have higher mA content in CML cells resistant to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) typically progresses from a chronic phase to an accelerated phase, and eventually to a blast crisis, often involving the bone marrow and peripheral blood, if left untreated. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement is an uncommon manifestation of CML, particularly as an isolated CNS relapse. Here, we present a rare case of CML in lymphoid blast crisis with an isolated CNS relapse.
