Aim: This study investigated whether Gordon's Functional Health Patterns (FHPs) can predict frailty in older adults residing in nursing homes over 5 years.
Design: Prospective cohort study with participants from 10 nursing homes across five countries.
Methods: Researchers assessed 1245 participants at baseline and 903 at follow-up (5 years) using standardised frailty measures and FHP assessments.

The proportion of older individuals needing liver transplantation is growing, resulting in an increasingly frail patient population. Frailty constitutes a constellation of cognitive and physical symptoms associated with aging and increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. Senescence is a programmed cell fate in response to stress implicated in causing frailty, age-related diseases, and aging itself.

Introduction / Objectives: While presence of concomitant SLE and frailty has been associated with greater emergency department (ED) use than SLE alone in young/mid-aged adults, whether frailty increases ED use in older adults with SLE remains unknown. In a nationally representative United States administrative claims dataset, we investigated the association of frailty duration with use of ED services in the SLE population compared with individuals without systemic rheumatic disease (SRD).
Method: We identified Medicare beneficiaries ≥ 65 years with SLE and matched them (1:4) by age and gender with non-SRD comparators with osteoarthritis.

Background: With the global aging population, community-acquired pneumonia and delirium are increasingly critical health issues among the elderly. The Laboratory Frailty Index provides an objective measure of frailty. This study explores its capacity in predicting delirium and examines the interplay between frailty and nutritional status in elderly patients with community-acquired pneumonia.

Background: Frailty is a known determinant of poor clinical outcomes in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, prevalence estimates and effect sizes vary in part due to multiple tools available to measure frailty.
Objectives: This study aimed to compare the prevalence and prognostic value of six commonly used frailty assessments in adults with HFpEF.
