(Betulaceae), or birch, is a Holarctic genus of trees and shrubs whose species have ornamental, industrial, and medical importance. Gall midges of the genus (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae: Cecidomyiidi) are exclusively associated with birches in the Palearctic region. In 2018, an undescribed species was discovered forming leaf galls on the midveins of on Mount Tara, Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. In this study the species is described as Elsayed & Tokuda, , and a DNA barcode provided for it. The other known species of Massalongia are redescribed because the original descriptions are outdated and insufficient. A lectotype is designated for . In addition, the monotypic genus , containing associated with in the Nearctic region, is synonymized here under , resulting in , rendering a Holarctic genus with six species. Comparing the sequence data of with all sequences available in The Barcode of Life Data (BOLD) system supports the occurrence of in the Nearctic region and suggest that more species could be discovered there. species form leaf or bud galls, and their mature larvae drop to the ground in autumn and overwinter in characteristic waterproof bottle-like cocoons, which is possibly a protective adaptation for pupation in wet and snowy lands. A taxonomic key to all species is provided.

The three members of the genus capripoxvirus (CaPV), lumpy skin disease virus (LSDV), sheeppox virus (SPPV), and goatpox virus (GTPV) have common hosts and areas of overlapping geographical distribution with Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV). Hence, to ensure more cost-effective disease surveillance we developed and evaluated a Luminex assay for the simultaneous detection of antibodies against CaPV and RVFV in domestic ruminants. In cattle, the assay had a sensitivity (Se) of 98.

Chemotherapy is still one of the major approaches in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment. The development of new formulations for classic chemotherapeutic drugs remains interests in studies. Camptothecin (CPT) is powerful antitumor agents in TNBC treatment though its clinic applications are limited by its low water solubility and systemic toxicity.

Background: Dioscorea polystachya and its closely related species are original plants of the tuber crop "yam", which had been intensively use for medicinal and food purposes and widely cultivated in northern China and its surrounding areas with a long history. Many cultivars of these species are often confused with one another because of similar tuber morphology, however, conventional DNA barcoding faces practical limitations restricting the method to effectively identify closely related species. In addition, phylogenetic relationships among various cultivar groups of Chinese yam (D.

In Iran, there is limited information regarding the species distribution and antifungal susceptibility profiles of yeast isolates from drug addicts suffering from oral candidiasis (OC). In this study, 104 yeast isolates, including 98 Candida species and 6 uncommon yeasts, were collected from 71 drug abusers with OC. The susceptibility profiles of Candida spp.

Background: Mucormycosis, is a rare yet potentially life-threatening fungal infection common in immunocompromised patients. Despite optimal care, mucormycosis in haemato-oncological patients often results in poor outcomes. This case series details the presentations and unique challenges faced during the management of patients with acute myeloid leukemia who developed rhino-cerebral mucormycosis.
