To investigate the clinical effect of the modified vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap in repairing the skin and soft tissue defect after abdominoperineal resection for rectal cancer. This study was a retrospective observational study. From June 2019 to July 2022, five male patients with low rectal cancer who were conformed to the inclusion criteria were admitted to the Department of Basic Surgery of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, with ages ranging from 65 to 70 years and the sizes of the perianal skin ulcers ranging from 5 cm×4 cm to 11 cm×9 cm, and all of them underwent abdominoperineal resection.

Properties and Emissions of Three-Layer Particleboards Manufactured with Mixtures of Wood Chips and Partially Liquefied Bark.

Materials (Basel)

February 2023

Department of Wood Science and Technology, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Rožna Dolina C VIII/34, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Partial liquefaction of residual biomass shows good potential for developing new materials suitable for making bio-based composites. Three-layer particleboards were produced by replacing virgin wood particles with partially liquefied bark (PLB) in the core or surface layers. PLB was prepared by the acid-catalyzed liquefaction of industrial bark residues in polyhydric alcohol.

In our report, we present the hypersonic vitrectomy (Vitesse, Bausch and Lomb) being employed for anterior vitreous liquefaction and removal in posterior capsular rupture. The capsular tear with nucleus drop during conventional phacoemulsification was managed by vitrectomy using the hypersonic vitrector after posterior-assisted levitation followed by intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. The minimal cortical and epinuclear lens particles in the anterior chamber and vitreous were also liquefied with a stoke length of 30 to 40 μm and aspirated via the Vitesse vitrectomy system.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of low molecular weight heparin combined with aspirin for perioperative prophylactic anticoagulation in patients with lower extremity fracture after splenectomy.

Methods: The clinical data of 50 patients with splenic rupture combined with lower extremity fracture between January 2009 and June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were given enoxaparin sodium at 48 hours after splenectomy, and stopped at 24 hours before fracture surgery.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the double-row and double-pulley technique in treating anterior shoulder glenoid fracture (Ideberg type Ia) using shoulder arthroscopy.

Methods: Thirty-six patients with Ideberg type Ia admitted from March 1, 2017, to March 1, 2020, were retrospectively reviewed. Data of the patients' history included age, sex, side of the affected arm, the mean time from injury to surgery, the surgical duration, the average blood loss, and the average total duration of hospital stay.
